|
 |
I went to the dentist a few months back and apparently I've developed a cavity on both of my top wisdom teeth. He recommended that, rather than drilling out the cavity, they be removed all together.
Well, Thursday's the day and I'm absolutely fuckin' scared shitless. I've had cavities/fillings before, but I've never actually had a tooth ripped the fuck out. I can't imagine its going to be as pain free as he made it out to be.
Anyone had a tooth ripped out before? Thoughts on what to expect?
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

yeah it will not hurt , but he will break your jaw a little to get it out (below the root), nr8's are nasty fuckers when it comes to the roots , it will hurt after 4 h , not to worry tho , the pain is not from your broken bone but from your teeth gums, the ye old big friking hole will heal after 35h (2-3 days max counting you will not eat on that side)

My mate had his wisdom teeth pulled and lemme tell ya its nothing to be happy about, there's some risk involved. In his case the dentist pulled too hard and a cavity towards his sinuses opened up, at first he didn't notice this, but after a day or two his mouth wasn't vacuum anymore and everything he drank went up his sinuses, sometimes he'd go dizzy and fall to the floor without knowing the real cause. It was the weirdest feeling he ever had, blackouts and shit, he had to get surgery to his jaw to close this cavity cuz the longer he had this cavity the more risk he had of infecting his sinuses.
When you have this done, its best to let it be done in a hospital, not by a butcher pulling out teeth(certainly not wisdom teeth).
DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YA!!!!!!!!!

I heard that it can hurt, and sometimes get infected. My friend got them out, and she said that she took antibiotics the day before she got them out, just on a safe side. When she got them out she slept on an angle of 60° (so that the blood doesn't flow to your head), she had all the pillows around her so that she could be in that position all night. I don't know if it helps, because I didn't pulled them out (yet), but she said she felt minimum pain...

In most cases (if the dentist knows what he's doing) the procedure isn't really all that bad, it's the few days after that can be a pain. They usually prescribe some heavy painkillers to help you.

Consider this,
if you don't take them out, and do what someone I know did.
And wait for the hole to grow larger, until it hits the nerve. The tooth starts decaying and you get an infection in the jaw.
And you have so much pain, that you - at 30 years, working as a car mechanic (injuring yourself on a daily basis) cry, and can't sleep from the pain.
Taking it out is the easy way out man.
I also think fisk should be unbanned.

I have had all 4 out. Its honestly no big deal. Just make sure you don't smoke, or drink out of a straw. You can pull out the blood clot from the suction, and end up with dry socket. Dry socket is very painful

I recently had 8 teeth pulled out in one session. THAT was fucking brutal.

They look fine and all, I just get lots of "holes" between the teeths. Btw, Root filling or wtf you guys call it fucking sucks. 3 stages for 1 tooth |
Root Canal?
I got my first one done last year. It wasn't that bad but my jaw was sore for almost a year. It would be tender the first few bites.

That might be it... its not that bad, just that each session was like 1 hour - 1h 30min. And 3 fucking times -.- Don't get why they got to make a temp filling, then take it away, and do some other stuff, and then at least make a perm one.

My turn. Corner of my wisdom tooth (left lower jaw) has been growing onto the neighboring molar which caused a cavity. I fixed it temporarily but didn't follow up with pulling them out. Now I've got an infection. Woke up yesterday with a pain from another world. The gum right by the problematic teeth is swollen, and I almost puked this morning when I pushed it and pus sprayed all over the mouth.
Which means I'll have to get a penicillin treatment before they can do anything. Bah..

I've had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed.
I thought the experience was highly overrated pain wise.
You don't get the never damage from top teeth anyway. it is the bottom ones that pose the problems.
But anyway. Yeah. i had the top 2 taken out then a few years later, the bottom ones.
I didn't swell either time. Didn't have any pain to speak of. The removal process was painless but i was put completely under both times.
Really wasn't much at all to it.
Of course, when i got a root canal I was wondering wtf people were whining about because that didn't bother me either so maybe i am just weird.

You have some freak mutation that caused your nerve endings in your jaw to atrophy after birth.

OMG, I thought it was painful before. The anesthesia is disappearing.
The surgeon had to split both teeth in several parts to remove them (they apparently sat like mountain), then he fixed the jawbone (some sharp edges), put some protein-thingies in the holes and sew them shut. 2 hour job.
And now the pain is growing by the minute. When I asked about painkillers he just said "Get some paracetamol from the pharmacy". WTF???

had something similar done a few years ago where the dentist first had to cut open a part of my gums, drill into the jawbone, then split the wisdom tooth, then sew it all back together. after that procedure was done, i didn't even notice him ripping out my other wisdom tooth - that's how excruciating it was
screw paracetamol, ibuprofen etc - get miranax (or something else with naproxen in it), it's the only thing that helps when the anesthesia starts to wear off. a few hours after the little operation when the pain grew bigger and bigger, i popped one pill of that stuff, passed out a few minutes later because of the pain and when i woke up, it was all fine again
oh and don't forget about cooling, it's even more important than painkillers in this case

Just got back from the pharmacy. I had to call the doc, and he prescribed Citodon Soluble (500mg Paracetamol, 30mg Codeine). Just about to gulp 3 of those suckers and hope it helps.
EDIT: OMFG it hurts. a small drop of the stuff reached the wound in the jaw...

Had second from back molar tore out, had a hole at the top was decayed in the hole really bad on top of that, i had to wait for sugery because it had a ucler attached to the bottom of the tooth(took the antibiotic's), when he pulled the tooth, he showed me the infected sac, first 45 minute's the anti-pain shot only numbed a small portion of the area, so i felt so much pain, and when he saw my feet shaking, he was like, i know it's uncomfortable, i replied no, for fuck sake, it's not numbed properly, jabbed my jaw again, was so much better, but those 45 min's were fuckin brutal.
