I´m not very confident about this game, the previews I´ve been reading from about a month ago said the game was feeling very far from completion...

it also uses the Assassin's Creed engine, which was choppy and shallow at best.

How can an angine be shallow? Assassin's Creed lacked gameplay variety but the engine is awesome: huge levels with beautiful graphics and great body physics but no single slowdown (at least on Xbox 360).

um, it's shallow because there's no variety. It wasn't fun to play, ever. The sword fights were horribly simplistic, and it was one button counter-kill. Taking anything from AC is a disappointment. It was a cut and paste job. There might not have been slowdowns in AC, but for PoP all I've seen are choppy video previews.

Well, then you will love the fact that if you link your Xbox Live account with your Ubisoft account you are given the Altair skin to play Prince of Persia with. So now you can play PoP with Altair! LOL! Not sure why they did that? Only thing I can think of is that people that just LOVED AC can play AC II PoP now! Smile

Notice how his reply does nothing but confirm the fact he can't tell the difference between gameplay and an engine. Remember, if you don't have an argument make baseless assumptions! Laughing

Are you aware that AC and PoP hove nothing in common gameplaywise? It has a completely different combat system.
Also, NEVER judge framerate by preview builds. The framerate usually gets fixed in the last 2-3 months of game development. Previews are done with several month old builds usually.

Even worse than giving baseless assumptions is entering an argument without any rebuttal.

Anyways, without mincing words, my point is that AC was bad (imo)...Shaun White Snowboarding uses the same engine, and it's bad...what makes me think this will be a great game?

Because the engine has very little to do with the quality of the game, providing the developers know what they're doing and have good imaginations?

QFT!
GOW1 & GOW2 are amazing games, Bioshock is simply brilliant, while Blacksite or Legendary are pure crap... and guess what, all these games are using the same engine!!!
Love it or hate it but technically speaking, AC is more than impressive, period! Whether the new POP is gonna be a hit or a miss is up to devs' imagination and level design...and I really hope it's gonna be a hit! Wink

You are clueless and do not deserve to have The Brentmeister General as your avatar.
The AC-engine is indeed a very good one, from a technical standpoint AC was a very impressive game. Look at the smoothness of Altair's movement, look at the graphics and look at the draw-distance, they are all very impressive, and were even more impressive a year ago. The fact that the game had some serious design-flaws has fuck all to do with the engine. AC was built on some very good foundations, the overall execution was it's problem though.

The engine hasn't yet produced a game that I like to play! Animation and graphics aren't what make up a great game engine; I felt like the control was rather clunky. We'll have to judge the final product, so I'll put my opinion on hold until it's released.

lolz don't you think the control is the most easily customisable element of an engine?

Read this and find out what a game engine actually is about before you continue to bash things based on complete lack of knowledge.

The thing I´m worried the most about is that there is no way to die. What´s up with that shit? More and more games follow this trend, most likely to streamline it for the mainstream.

I´m starting to miss the days when it actually took some skills to finnish a game. 3xlives come back ffs.

If the "you can't die" part is just some "rewinding where you started your stunt and please start again" kind of shit, without the "game over" and the "reloading" screen..., that's fine with me! Wink
Anyway, I think we'll know soon enough! Wink

As far as I've understood you die after which you respawn at a checkpoint. So it's just like dying, but you don't have to push reload. I don't see the problem. The girl can save you at times, but those seem to be limited.

I can't wait for this game. Every PoP game I've played has been fun and I like their new style. It's different, let's hope it turns out good.

Yes, horrordee and Vodka. Wink

Anyway, I think the girl rescues you every time you fall. Just picks you up.

The game looks very sweet still though. From an artistic view point.
