I remember an older movie than The Matrix that was dark and took place in a city, maybe the word "city" was in the title? Not sure. Sci-fi movie from the 90s probably about some evil overlords controlling everything, protagonist fights them.

Aye, it was - still one of my favorites. And its got Jennifer Connelly as a beautiful lounge singer, so that's a plus. Very Happy



In the movie, her singing was dubbed over by Anita Kelsey's voice but the above linked clip is apparently Conelly's original voice (blooper reel/extras?)

I was shocked when i first watched Dark City how similar it is to the Matrix. From the story to the whole dark look. Given the fact it came out before the Matrix one does wonder how much they took from it.
