Time to put those unused cpu and gpu cycles to good use.
Get the folding@home client, for gpu version refer to this page. And put in team number 162988 then you fight terminal deceases or conditions with nfohump.

Theres only a flaw in that plan, assuming that alien species is more advanced than us, why would they use technology such as ours to communicate? surely they'd communicate on a subspace or quantum space level and not through radio waves.
If they ever used radio wave technology chances are they will have forgotten about it, or not care about races communicating using such technology.
That is why I think it's far more feasable to better the conditions for mankind, and thus evolution, before thinking about extraterrestrial species, and our relations with them.

Yes but if they're indeed that smart what could they learn from us? it'd hardly be worth the trouble to initiate relations with us if they're that superior to us
It would be far more interesting to just watch us from a distance and see how we do and then maybe after a while initiate communication.
And again we assume the race is that intelligent, they would've learned the most used language for earth communications, assumedly english, and most likely already be on Earth.
Making the Seti project redundant.

Helps scientist calculate enzymes and molecular compositions in the fight against cancer, alzheimers etc. The more people help out the easier for the scientists to work out a cure for these deceases and conditions.

I'm lost. Its software or something right?
How does it do those things?
Cause I will for sure install it after I watch Lost in 50 minutes. Thats a great cause.
You sure its not spyware or some kind of infiltration program that tracks you?
Cause thats what I thought it was.
Do you have a website so I can check it out Ep? I believe you, I just wanna read it for myself you know?
Hope you get back to this msg soon cause if what you say is the case, I will install it immediately.

Dont see any reason why both cant be ran on the same machine? Will get see I guess, have them both running now.
Edit: Anyone know how to get them running as 64bit? Both processes seem to be in 32bit mode..

im nto sure if the 7*** series supports GPU client, but yeah GPU client is alot faster than anything else , be it ATI or nvidia, after that is the SMP ( multicore ) client, and the PS3 client. There is also special 64bit linux clients.
Slowest is the single core graphical client , always go for the console one , simple and fast.

same reason some people keep helping homeless bums - sometimes people better off just like to HELP others... and just like us, maybe theyre looking for ANY sentient life out there, not just ones on their level or higher..
im not saying im into all this stuff, all im saying is that just because we would be relatively lesser lifeforms than anything else out there that may receive whatever shit we send into space, doesnt mean they would ignore us.
