GSC Game World is apparently working on a new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. add-on called S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat as well as a full-fledged sequel to their irradiated first-person shooter. This is according to rough English translations on ClanBase and the TTLG Forums of comments made in a Russian-language chat with GSC Game World's Sergey Grigorovitch. A question asking if the April "Call of Pripyat" entry on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. calendar was an April Fool's joke was answered with with the revelation that this is the name of a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. add-on that they expect to release this autumn. He also apparently says they are working on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Thanks Kincaid.

So they are working on two bug-fests totally dependent on user mods to at least start looking polished and somewhat enjoyable? Woot!!

Well, I loved both (ShoC was superior to Clear Sky). By the time I had bought the games there were already patches out that fixed the worst game stopping bugs, and I had a surprisingly bug free experience with Clear Sky.
I do hope they've gotten the lesson down to use Q/A towards the end of development. They got hammered bad with the release of ShoC, but they were absolutely smashed by the state of Clear Sky before the first two patches.

I was very excited about the first one, but after experiencing what a mess it was, had no hopes for Clear Sky, and evidently, rightly so. This is a widespread issue usually associated with European developed games, Eastern European in particular. They have a great idea, but execution is bogged down, and there is a sheer lack of polish with their games.

I loved both, but especially ShoC for the amazing atmosphere and feeling of walking around in the zone. Sure, it had it's flaws, most of which were fixed by the time patch 1.0.0.4 was released. Clear Sky was different, and I wrote in some other thread (Clear Sky thread I think) that I believed Clear Sky to have been made with the stuff they had to cut from ShoC in order to ship the game before the developers and publisher went under.
I did expect Clear Sky to be a lot more polished than Shadow of Chernobyl at release. I was very wrong. It was also quite different from ShoC, it had a different atmosphere and premise. But the only part that was really bad was the ending. That was just slapped on at the very last minute.
I'm hoping third time is the charm, that Call of Pripyat will be polished and complete, that the developers have learned something from ShoC and Clear Sky, that they know what Q/A is. I am looking forward to this a lot even if it's just an expansion because I love the game world in stalker. I fell in love with it from the first day I played ShoC (yes, even though it had bugs).
Even more important: I hope they do S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 properly. If they can leave the bugfest-releases of ShoC and Clear Sky behind and do Stalker 2 properly, then it may be a mighty game to behold.

I think there team has expanded since they have made quite a nifty profit of the previous games.
Hopefully we'll see better quality games in shorter development times....

Same. I honestly couldn't stand it .. but only for one thing; BLEEDING! *growls like a feral animal* If you get so much as a scratch in that mod, you bleed to death. Even worse considering bandages cost over a 1000 rubles.
Arrrghh!

Not gonna touch S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat after the disaster that was Clear Sky.
However I really liked a lot of things in Shadow of Chernobyl (still has the best AI to date imo), and didn't encounter a single bug in my play through, so I am looking forward to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. I hope they take their time, and I hope to see my most wanted feature in it; streamed content (ie. no split levels).

One is an expansion like Clear Sky, while STALKER 2 is a full game.
