|
 |
Thsi is a looooong read
This statement was released within the xbox modding community from on the lead creative directors for the firmware team that makes it possible to modify their 360’s to play pirated copies of games. Take from it what you will, but to a person that knows little to nothing about the intricacies of modding, it looks like the ones responsible for the rampant piracy of the 360 games, are taking a curtain call. Goodbye free games, modders. Hello empty wallets.

Aye, it was posted in the iXtreme 1.61 thread. Pfeh, I always knew c4e was a twat anyway ... everyone giving him a BJ because he cracked the firmware, forgetting that it's BECAUSE of c4e that you're all banned He goes on and on about how the firmware isn't detectable and then what? Blames the bans on user error because they "used ABGX360 wrong" Then, after all this bullshit, he turns round and says "Oh by the way, I'm releasing iXtreme LT soon! It's even more undetectable!"
What? Correct me of I'm wrong, but "undetectable" is "undetectable" - your original firmware was supposed to be this, so why release a NEW one that is supposedly better?
Fuck you, man. It's all a scam. His firmware is great, but the very act of installing it is enough to flag you for a ban - and now he wants to charge too? *golf clap* Don't get me wrong, I respect the guy for helping us play backups, but I'm not about to suck his dick over it and I'm sure as hell not buying into your scam by buying it either. Paying for piracy?
.... this post is an opinion.

oh jesus christ. wall of text written by a twat raging about other twats. so what if the guy decides to cash in on years of hard work (which he did for free)? it's HIS decision to make, and not about what's best for teh scene blablabla
@sabin: it's free (or at least was). don't look a gifted horse in the mouth and take anything for granted. and about this whole scheme: we'll see how well it works and maybe how much of a scam it is in due time.
and about the whole "paying for piracy"...
1. i'm against it too, but in all honesty - if it costs me 10 bucks extra to play copies and there is no other way around, i'll gladly pay for it.
2. piracy was never free, just think of the money that goes into modchips, hdds and optical media.
3. the only real cunts are the ones selling burnt games.

Please man, don't get me wrong; I'm extremely grateful to the whole TEAM who brought us the Xtreme firmware - all I'm saying is that I don't worship the guy, I believe his firmware is the cause of the bans, and that I don't agree with having to pay (if indeed that's the future)

hehe, that's not they way it works. you're not paying for the firmware, but for key decryption. have fun trying to pirate a service
and, sabin, i know what you mean...but:
sabin1981 wrote: | I believe his firmware is the cause of the bans |
of course his firmware is the cause of the ban, what else would it be. and just because he thought it wouldn't be detectable, doesn't mean he didn't overlook something that made it possible for MS to detect it. humans are flawed, that's it. and placing trust in someone saying that something would be 100% secure/undetectable is quite a naive thing to do.

...yet no one is raging about the fact that modchips aren't free. and the fact that it's a service instead of a physical product doesn't change shit, considering the measly modchip production costs involved

Erm - why would this be empty wallets? I do not intend to ever purchase a game for the XBOX360 so long as it is possible to patch games and play them offline. As soon as it becomes impossible to do so on the XBOX360, I will just purchase those AAA titles on the PS3.

The difference is a mod-chip is a piece of hardware that has development, manufacture and advertising costs. :\

development effort/costs: same as with modified firmwares
manufacturing costs: they aren't that high. besides, modchips have a heftier pricetag in comparison
advertising: only necessary if you actually got competition. and you don't need advertising, it only boosts sales - so it's just optional

sabin1981 why are you so butthurt?
Nobody fucking forced you to flash your xbox. I don't think c4e could care less if mr sabin from norway used his FW or not.
You knew the risk and you took it. Now you all go boohoooo c4e banned my xbauws booohooo :'(
Here is a handy tutorial:
Flashing your xbox = 100% ban
Not flashing your xbox = 100% no ban
Now go blame your self or die.

Umm, what? :\ I've never been banned, nor acted butthurt over the bans. In fact, I couldn't care less about being banned, or anyone who has been, it's a risk we all knew and a risk we all take. I was merely pointing out discrepancies in what c4eva has been saying. He claims his FW is *not* detectable by MS and that his firmware *isn't* the cause of the ban. I say otherwise, especially as he's now touting a new FW that is "more undetectable" --- well I hate to break it to you, but you can't get "more" undetectable. It's either undetectable or it isn't.
Oh and just once more for the record; I've never been banned. Survived THREE banwaves, which is more than I can say for most anyone else I know.

Yeah and you know more than c4e BECAUSE??..........??
oh yeah I forgot you don't know. So why talk, when you don't know?
LT is more 1.7 but for all drives and it has no wave check etc.

When did I ever say I knew more? Jesus Christ, what the hell is wrong with you people lately? You're riding my ass on every goddamn thing I say. Whether you like it or not, I am ENTITLED to an opinion. My OPINION is that Commodore4eva is lying, or rather grossly overexaggerating the truth, about the visibility of his firmware.
I love the firmware. I respect the guy who decrypted it (contrary to your hero worship, c4eva did not MAKE Xtreme/iXtreme). I just believe that his claims of it being undetectable are falsehoods. That is my opinion and I am god damned entitled to it.

his firmware cause of he bans wtf.. it was always play on live on your own risk..
microsoft constantly changes the way they detect things so at first they didn't had the tools yet to even check the firmware.. so c4e was right it wasn't detecable (yet) MS just put a whole team together to develop tools to read certain parts of firmware for each drive.

You can restore HDD functions, there was a tutorial somewhere over here.

All it means is that Sony wins, who in their right minds would buy a console that clatters and clanks, has no blu ray and needs replacing every other year if they can't play backups?
No-one and that Netflix fan from your local video store that's who.
[Epiphany moment:] Oh yeah thats pretty much the ONLY reason many people bought the 360.
