Reinstalled windows. Reinstalled GTA4 about 4x. It wont load my saved games.

Ive backed up my saved games already, must have copied them over tons of times to new install - but it keeps loaded a new game. Why??

Folders in GTA IV - Ive copied then entire GTAIV folder into Rockstar Games folder.
Folders within GTAIV:
Settings
savegames
User Music

Even copied the RGSC folder into path below. Still loads new game.
\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Rockstar Games

Im logged in as my original nick.

Can someone explain to me the exact process when reinstalling windows and reinstalling saves? Obviusly Im missing something. I still have my old windows - so I can get to any files needed. Ive never in my life heard of such an ordeal on restoring old saves.

Do I need to Uninstall Windows Live (I did anyways) still no go. DO I need to install the game a certain way (using Razor release and the 1.020 update). I already know the latest windows live 1.03 update does not work - stutters.

My saved games folder looks like this if it helps. This is what Im copying over to new install.
GTA IV\savegames\user_e00002b68e0650b9
GTA IV\savegames\user_e00000158e0650b9
\GTA IV\savegames\user_invalid

I think it was the devolopers intentions to make the save games incompatible with other PC's and since you have reinstalled your OS..

You could try using Xliveless http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=388658 it might solve the problem.

How do I install xliveless? No dox included. I tried running both .bat files - nothing happened.
I see a folder called SRC and some .dll files called xlive.dll. Where do I put this?

Just place xlive.dll in the Rockstar Games\Grand Theft Auto IV directory and run the game normally (with or without crack)

Still dont work. Just loads a new game. Even did below.. Well, Im just going to use my old harddrive as the OS system so I can continue playing GTA4. Maybe its some kind of omen not to reformat. The Samsung 1 TB will be used for storage instead. Thanks,

So you should have them like this

savegames/ControlMap.dat
savegames/SGTA400
...

and not like this
savegames/user_*ID HERE*/ControlMap.dat
savegames/user_*ID HERE*/SGTA400

Xliveless changes the location of the savegames, so put your own to the correct folder, read the readme of xliveless.
