|

Ok so I'm really not into adventure games, in fact I've never played them due to the lack of my interest. I did however play 2 of them that I find to be some of the best games I've ever played.
Blade Runner and DreamFall
I have a vampyre story but it hasn't/isn't drawing me into it.
I'd rather it be sci-fi ish if possible.

I can only remember the golden oldies to be honest. Grim Fandango is the first that comes to mind, after that The Longest Journey. Siberia was good too, though a bit weird with puzzles.

SpykeZ, you might want to check out Still Life.
It's not something new, but it's still is a nice game and easy on the eyes.

There was a very good looking sci-fi adventure recently Perry Rhodan if I'm not mistaken is the name, not a bad game.
Moment of silence is sci-fi, Longest Journey is not sci-fi but is to good not to be played.
If you would reconsider an oldy DEFINITELY Beneath a steal sky (sci-fi), Grim Fandango, maybe Space Quest 4(sci-fi).
Also a very interesting game The Ripper I bought it when I was a kid you are a detective and you are trying to find the ripper in a sci-fi setting, cool game Gabriel Knight 2 style also another must play game, there are too many brilliant adventure games I can't name them all but GK2 is at the very top.

If it was my loss then I'd fuckin ask for older games wouldn't I? I leave old games in the past where they belong.

PHANTASMAGORIA!
<3 spoony.
What did I play recently. Sinking Island? Something like that by somebody Benoit? It was alright on the "easy" mode where the island isn't actually sinking in real time. I don't want time constraints in my adventure games, ty. I liked the art deco style in this one.
There was another. After Life? Next Life, that's it. It's a bit meh in places, but I liked it for the most part. Just depends how forgiving you're willing to be with some of its more annoying bits (people wander off, timed scenes, death at certain parts).

Sadly, adventure games are another thing where the saying "they don't make em like they used to" holds true. I keep hoping that they revive a classic and the company responsible keeps their balls intact(looking at you, lucasarts).
Oh the Indigo Prophecy game was good, and sorta new I guess. Kinda a hybird action/adventure tho. Coming out with a sequel in 2009 as well.

Most I would recommend have already been mentioned, so I'll say..
Overclocked
Not the terrible game some made it out to be, sure it has its faults but I found it set a good mood and was quite engaging. I find with adventure games, if the story grabs you enough most faults tend to be overlooked.
Really though, you're far better off with a game from the point and click Golden Age, if you haven't played them all already.

Heavy Rain (Indigo Prophecy 2 - same kinda game), is a PS3 sequel. Now I hope that means its exclusive amongst the consoles and will come out on the PC.
The two videos I watched looked sweet, and I thoroughly enjoyed Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy, just finished it yesterday.

Dark Seed
BloodNet
I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream
Dreamweb
Snatcher - find a segacd emulator for this one, it's well worth it. Unless you can find the rare psx version.
I don't care if you don't like old games, when you want a list such as this you cannot just want the new stuff, do you only listen to new songs as well and refuse to listen to the classics?
You need to open your mind, if you're unable to do that then you won't get the big experiences.
Good games are timeless, unless you're a graphics that is.
Edit: Forgot Dreamweb!

Right on the money. You really miss out if you don't play the old ones. And what with mini laptops and all the mobile devices that play SCUMM games? It's almost inexcusable not playing just because of something shallow like graphics.
And LOL @ darkseed reference. Great game(esp the artwork) but the homemade production values made me laugh at times. Especially with the dev team doing the voices.. Mrrr Daawson. Haha. I also remember it had a bug where the guy would never stop throwing the stick at his dog. Good times.

I disagree, graphics may not be all that make a video game but ARE an integral part of it. Good graphics affect the experience you get when playing a game. It's only logical to acknowledge that vast differences in graphics may seriously diminish a game experience!
I might make even more sense if I use Epsilon's music analogy: You just can't appreciate a song when you hear it from a mp3 at 70 something kbps using crappy headphones even if it is a masterpiece!
That said I want to let you all know that I've been a nforce (sorry nfohump) reader for years but almost never post.
BTW I LOVED The Dig as well as Bioforge, remember buying them the same day.
