After watching Next I reminisced over other movies based on Philip K Dick, realizing quality levels vary wildly. Figured I'd do a poll to see what other people think.

My fave is Bladerunner. It's as much the Philip K Dick story (Do androids dream of electric sheep?) as it is Ridley Scott's amazing vision and directing.

I felt "A Scanner Darkly" failed totally due to the unnecessary gimmick of doing the movie in cell-shading. Paycheck was a good thriller but I just can't stand Ben Affleck.

Blade Runner is just at the top of the list of ALL movies, imo. An amazing movie. Total Recall is also very very good, imo along with Minority Report. A Scanner Darkly is a cool flick but it doesn't breach on to the next level or whatever.

Paycheck could've been cool and I like Ben Affleck.

It's been so many years since I saw Screamers but I remember it as a pretty cool cult flick.

I haven't seen the Impostor but it doesn't look like I'm missing out.

Next was complete and utter crap.

I love Total Recall, but tbh I find that it's more of an Arnie flick than a Dick flick Razz

Gotta choose Blade Runner, but I also liked Minority Report and Paycheck.

Hey, who voted for Impostor? I like that movie, it does have that strange paranoid undertones that are so common in Dick's stuff. Gary Sinise does a good job. Smile

most of the stuff on the list is very crappy, except for br.

impostor i haven't seen, i'm dloading it now.

minority report was way crappy, especially with that always-nauseatingly-dramatic cruise. paycheck was bearable, but disappointingly full of boring action scenes and with a happy ending that destroyed anything dickian that might have been left after the action ended.

i didn't manage to sit through next without skipping forward, it was boring as hell. it had some good bits, but what i remember most from the movie is cage droning on and on about some stuff that no one cares about. which he does while looking as tragic as possible.

screamers was nice when i was a kid, but it prolly wouldn't hold up too well so i ain't gonna watch it again. total recall was funny, partly because of arnold and partly because, again, i was a kid.

the scanner darkly novel was one of pkd's crappiest, but the movie deserves some points for sticking closer than the others to the book.

I have picked Impostor, because it is a truly original film

others where liked for :
Bladerunner - for music
Total Recall - the best action film of its time
Screamers - climate
Minority Report - the view of the future
Next - action movie
A Scanner Darkly - cell shader movie showing how druggies see the world around them
Paycheck - action movie

Bladerunner, one of the greatest films ever made. Different, and yet faithful to the book at the same time.

Blade Runner
Minority Report
A Scanner Darkly

i love all 3 of them , but i dunno , i really enjoyed A Scanner Darkly alot (pretty faithfull too) , sure it's no Blade Runner , but is it only me who finds 10000 cuts from the same movie annoying ? you don't know what to watch cause some shit is missing in different cuts and moved around and that just ruins the experience.
Minority Report was a great movie , nice action and pacing but for me , it's a 3rd compared to Blade Runner and Scanner Darkly .

and as for Total Recall .. i dunno , i first saw it when i was a little kid , wasnt really impressed back then , i remember that i thought that the whole exploding thing at the end was really fugly , nothing much has changed .
