Order of War Demo

Demo Info:

A demo for Order of War has been released by Square Enix and it’s exclusively on Steam.

It’s a single-player affair for the RTS World War II game, and it should give you a taste of what’s to come when it releases in September.

Description:

In the summer of 1944, the Second World War entered its end-game when the Allies launched two major operations that would drive back German forces on both the Western and Eastern Fronts at once. In the ultimate test of military strategy, Order of War will challenge you not only to lead America’s finest to victory in the West, but also place you in command of German forces charged with repelling the Red Army’s seemingly unstoppable offensive in the East.

Even the keenest military minds will find that it’s one thing to make history, but quite another to change it. Do you have what it takes to command?

Game Features:

* Experience WWII warfare on an epic, cinematic stage; that truly captures the intensity and scale of the battlefield.
* Take Command of an entire armoured force consisting of up to 1,000 soldiers, tank divisions, armoured vehicles, artillery and air force.
* Players can choose between two different campaign modes offering completely different storylines, missions, objectives and environments.
* Experience the unique dynamic camera that allows players to command troops over huge geographical scale whilst maintaining movie-like vistas and detail.
* In-depth gameplay modes - two different campaign modes, multi-player, Deathmatch and Skirmish’.

The fact that Square Enix is affiliated with this in any way makes me cry on the inside...
They really start to stray from their path Laughing

Huh? I think it's interesting to see them branch out.

Besides, I'd rather seem them publish something like this, then continue to ruin Final Fantasy...

I tried demo.
Graphics is nice, but game play is very simple. Demo has one mission. To end this mission there's no need to think, or use tactics. It's like mediocre RTS. I was hoped for good strategy game.

Yeah, but RTS is a rather delicate genre and Square Enix started on the consoles and I wouldn't mind if they stayed there. Very Happy (not bitching or flaming because I love Square, I love Enix and I love what they did so far)
But RTS might not be the best choice (and seeing as the demo is pretty mediocre, I think it proves my point Very Happy)

That's not what it means. It means that you get to lead the finest of the american victories.

And to be fair, most of the nations you mentioned, didn't do shit.

You both completely and utterly fail at English. "America's finest" refers to soldiers, as in, the people; the finest American individuals, putting their lives on the line in the military.

Are you or are you not aware that they're only publishing this, and that it's being developed by a British developer?

Also, please learn your game company history. Both Square and Enix got their starts releasing games for various Japanese PCs, not consoles. In fact, back in the mid '80s, when they both started releasing games for the NES, it was actually considered a surprise among their fanbases at the time, as both companies were viewed as being somewhat reluctant of releasing their games on consoles.

Granted, I didn't have my facts completely straight out. Thanks for educating me on that (really, I mean that - I'm really thankful for people who give you info instead of just yelling "you're wrong moron!" Smile )
But that doesn't change the fact that this game is... shite. And it pains me to see that Square Enix put their label on something like that.
Since for me, they haven't brought us a game that I'd categorize as utter shite (feel free to lecture me on that Very Happy)

Btw I didn't know Square Enix bought Taito and Eidos Interactive O.o
