What style of RPG do you like? That's a critical piece of information, sir.

Action RPG like Titan Quest/Dungeon Siege?
Console jRPG like Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest?
Tactical RPG like Jagged Alliance/Fallout Tactics?
PC indepth RPG like Fallout/Baldurs Gate?
Pseudo-RPG like Mass Effect/Jade Empire?
Hybrid RPG like Deus Ex/System Shock?

See what I did there? Razz

Perdurab00:
While thats not a bad idea I put more faith in the judgement of the people on this board then on any review site.

sabin1981:
Not sure what you did, but them be some nice recomendations. I guess I prefer either sandbox RPG's or RPGs with clear divide between playtroughs with different classes. With the second I mean I like not having to meet the excat same NPCs and do the excat same quests when playing the game. And prefrebly it should be hardcoded so I dont fall into the temptation of doing every quest in the game with the first toon i make.

Surray:
I really did like Nwn2 but whe n I had it it was so buggy I went and swapped it in for some new headphones. I might give the last remnant a try. Are we talking full FF clone here ?

DarkPassenger:
The witcher was good teh first time around, BUt then again first time around is all you really need. I loved teh adult feel, but it was to constricted to do in the long run.

I know Im grasping at straws here. Just very famished for a good rpg theese days.

STALKER, not pure RPG but, to me, is more like an RPG should be than e.g Witcher or Mass Effect.

Gothic2 with addon is superb if you can stand the graphics. Gothic3 is quite ok now when it's patched but no where near as good as Gothic 1-2 unfortunately.

FO3 shouldn't be missed either.

+1, had great fun with Two Worlds, in many ways better than Oblivion, very underrated.

And a lot worse in many other ways, but still decent overall. Just remember to patch it, the release version had some awful issues.

Absolutely

I'm not a big RPG fan and i loved that game so that should tell you enough. Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines is a fantastic game as well.

Fallout 3 is good too although i wouldn't consider it a pure RPG. Its gets boring after a while too since there are so many locations to explore but it's pointless to do so other than for loot or if you want to find all books or something.

I sort of liked NWN2 too but only with a pure Mage/Wizard. A got bored to tears halfway through the game with a Fighter/Monk since all you do is point and click and the animations for cleave fucking sucks (well basically there are no animations Laughing ). Sorcerer was fun though since you have a lot of spells to play with so you can try different approaches to combat unline a fighter.

Fallout 3 with Broken Steel, it really revitalises the game. The level 30 cap is far more appropriate.

Is that a fan made patch? If so can you provide a link? (seems the Gothic forums are down)

Cheers

Broken Steel you say. Revitalises the game you say.
Might just have to grab it then.

Yeah you are right Vampires was an awesome game, never got to finish it tho since it was was riddled with bugs Sad Might try again some day with the new patches and what not.

Fallout 3 felt pointless to play, knowing u can pretty much complete the game at level 1 Laughing really awful game imo Razz And the fact that its using the same engine as Oblivion didnt make it any better, Both those games are all about good looks

NWN 2 is the shit, first one is waay better tho

..... S.S.S is the person you quoted about Bloodlines.

..... "eleventh time" signifies how many times I've installed, and completed, Bloodlines.

Well I guess if you a play a game to grind then it was lacking in that department. But the game is more about exploring and finding unique equipment, and the levelling naturally comes along with that.

Besides, I seriously doubt you could achieve much at level 1, play the game on hard and stop whining!

I am most definitely with AM on this. Either FO3 is "your" game, or it isn't, but either way; constantly whining about it doesn't accomplish anything. The game has been out long enough that people already know all about it.

Personally; I love it! Love the exploration, love hunting out unique weapons, love the combat (FO3 Combat Upgrade removes VATS and bases the game solely on FPS-skill, which changes the game in radical ways) and I love the story -- not to mention the vast mod content.

Doesn't that make half the perks and skills useless though? Or do the weapon skills affect accuracy outside of VATS?

Nah, old "accuracy" perks/skills now translate into damage or "accuracy at range" -- rather than a calculated "chance" of hitting, as was the old system. Here's some info, if you like;

http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2457

I've been using this mod since the start and it changes the game completely - in a good way too. I hated the trying to use both FPS *and* stat-based combat, it just felt wrong to me. Using this was a god-send!
