Yes, it's been an awfully long time, but it appears that The Secret Of Monkey Island is coming back, and to the Xbox 360.

The German USK rating board has revealed that The Secret Of Monkey Island - Special Edition is on its way. This was the very original Monkey Island game, from all the way back in 1990. As for what makes it a Special Edition is currently unknown -- could they be re-doing the graphics? Could the game possibly have a voice cast?

The rating suggests that Activision might have some involvement in the project, but most likely this is simply Activision Europe rating the title for LucasArts, as they are the European publishing arm that LucasArts use. We can only assume this is an Xbox Live Arcade title, but there is a slim chance that this is a retail retelling of the original too.

nice to see a remake, i'm just wondering why they (only?) release it on the x360 instead of the wii, where it would be much more comfortable to play (or on the ps3, if it works with the mx air)

Yet your sig is Psychonauts , an adventure / platformer game that was made to appeal to the console crowd

I think its more likely be an xbox live based title with improved GFX and sound. I do wish it was a full fledged remake with voice overs and all new GFX and sound. SCUMM games rock

Adventure? It was a straight up platformer.

I played the first 2 monkey islands when I was like 10 years old. I wish this remake, or whatever it is was coming to PC.

Quote:
An adventure game is a video game in which the player assumes the role of protagonist in an interactive story that is driven by exploration and puzzle-solving instead of physical challenges such as combat. The term originates from the 1970s game Adventureand relates to the style of gameplay pioneered in that game, rather than the kind of story being told.

The adventure genre's focus on story allows it to draw heavily from other narrative-based media, such as literature and film. Adventure games encompass a wide variety of literary genres, including fantasy, science fiction, mystery, horror, and comedy. Nearly all adventure games are designed for a single player, since the heavy emphasis on story and character makes multi-player design difficult.Because these games require strong characters and plots, character development tends to follow literary conventions of personal and emotional growth, rather than growth that affects gameplay

I'd say that fits Psychonauts fits that gig rather well , Yes alot of games could fall into this category but seeing as Tim Schafer always described it as an adventure game first and foremost in the majority of his interviews I would go with that . Its by no means a "Straight up Platformer"
