Well, do you really believe they'd do it without his permission? If they did, he'd never go to another show of theirs which is something they'd never risk, not MTV. Also, bit strange that he'd fall exactly on his head and a camera is all ready to go and shoot it up close and he mysteriously knows the answer to the winner.
Maybe they weren't specific with the details. They probably told him "Something funny will happen with SBC, the dude from Borat" so he thought "Oh OK, no probs"
