Survival horror MMO Nether launching for PC this fall
Project Awakened creator Phosphor Games will release Nether, an urban-themed survival horror massively multiplayer online game, this fall for Windows PC, the developer announced.
Nether takes place in a post-apocalyptic future, where a mysterious event "has changed mankind forever." Players will work to solve the mystery behind the event while surviving in a lawless world. According to the announcement, players will either "Prey or Pray" on others as they either join up with other survivors or fight alone.
A decade after an unknown cataclysm destroys humanity, the survivors in the world of Nether work just to get by. Wandering the shattered bones of once-great cities, those left behind scavenge, make alliances, fight bandits and live in fear of the mutated creatures that hunt them.
The modern multiplayer survival game may have been pioneered by DayZ and copied (poorly) by Infestation: Survivor Stories (aka The War Z), but there’s still a lot of room for the genre to explore. Nether hopes to capture that feeling of freedom and anarchy that DayZ does so well, but to do so inside a very different environment and with smoother, first-person gunplay. In particular, Nether’s focus will be on an urban, vertical world partially inspired by the West Loop of Chicago.
“We wanted it to be where even one creature is something to be terrified about if you don’t have the gear,” Sineni said. “In some ways, it’s a multiplayer horror game, where there’s something out there.” He references the movie Alien, where one organism is devastating and can wipe out anybody. That’s the feeling the team is looking for: fear of being hunted by a formidable opponent.
“Something we really want to see is, rather than keep focusing on features that players may not care about, we really want to get it out there early and then have the community guide us,” Sineni said. “Maybe what we think is going to be a really big feature is something that you don’t care about, and you’d rather us focus on this other thing.”
we really want to get it out there early and then have the community guide us
^^ sure
It's the new business model; release a very early alpha, let the community mod the game to their likings, make a couple of 100k, and then hire the modders.
^^ good fucking god, can we all see where this is going
the payment methods are the same as well as the website and the trademark was registered by the same guy who registered The WarZ and Infestation: Survivor Stories.
the devs originally stated they had no affiliation with Warz/Hammer Point, and now its shown they have ties, this is enough of a warning that one is lied to so early on.
Obvious evidence staring in the face and still can't see it
I'd like to see this evidence, please Phosphor Games are from Chicago and the only game they've made prior to this is Dark Meadow .. which is a damned good iOS exploracombat title set in an asylum. They're not Hammerpoint Interactive.

Its something to so with one of the guys on the team/dev and had split from the warz guys or such. Id have to go forums and dig around the many posts of people bitching to locate it all, but feel free if you feel inclined
I think it was more over the questions were answered a while back saying no affiliation at all and then one comes out and says they used to be or something.. Either way it all looks samey? But I will give it a try if it gets a good thumbs up from the humpers later
My apologies, I also forgot that Phosphor created "Horn" - another iOS title. Phosphor != Hammerpoint, not unless you think a small team is working on an MMO and two large mobile games at the same time. Until I read absolute confirmation then I simply don't believe it
