|
 |
Recently I looked into overclocking my E6600 which is now running at 2.4ghz (stock speeds), after doing some research it seems 35-40° is the normal temperature for this cpu with the stock cooler, mine is now in between 53-56° idling (when gaming it goes up to about 62°, after a small overclock of about 90mhz that temperature went up to 62° idle. I cleaned out the dust inside the case but that didn't work. Any suggestions? I used Intel's TAT utility to measure temps as it's accurate from what I've read.

running e6600@3ghz with pro freezer 7
idle 42c load 55c, outside temp 20c+
my case does not produce sound louder than 20db
don't be a cheapskake and get yourself decent cooling
zalman is overrated and overpriced, ac and coolermaster produce same qualty at cheaper price tags

Ok so I should get a new cooler? I'll look into it, but I still think it's odd because the stock cooler is supposed to be good enough for OC's to 3.0ghz theoretically, which is not really my goal, but right now even a 100mhz overclock would be bad since I'd get over 70° when not idling :/

if u basing those temps on some tests in the internets then forget about it, each exemplar is different in overclocking and temps
but e6xxx series are pretty cool cpus for 65nm
is your stock cooler copper based and is it slim version or normal?

The entire heat-sink surrounding the cooler is copper-based but I don't see any copper on the cooler itself, I think it's the normal one. I didn't put it together myself so I don't know if I bought the copper-based one. I think I'll buy a decent cooler since it's quite cheap. On a sidenote, temps dropped to about 45° after removing the lid, "idling" that is.

well that proves that your case cooling is inefficient as well, get pro freezer 7 and make sure your case have 12cm fan sucking air out of the case

I have no case fan sucking air out of the case. There are a few breathing holes made out of small punctures in the case, one breathing hole is about 8cm diameter. My previous desktop did have a case cooler I realize now :/

lol u need decent case as well
that xtra fan can make at least up to 10c difference for your cpu running at 1200 rpm

Which ghetto-company sold you a pc without a case-fan? And the stock cooler will never manage 35C unless your room is a fridge.

Im running my e6600 with stock cooling too.
My idle temp is about 40/45.
Take a look if the heatsink is mounted correctly, mayb one of your screws is loose.
