Damn, I really don't know what happened. Last night I was messing with a program called MorphVox Junior (voice changing software). I then alt-tabbed back to the game I was playing and realized that I had no sound. I thought it was just a game bug, so I restarted the game- still nothing. Restarted the PC- nothing. Unplugged my headphones, plugged my speakers- nothing. Reinstalled sound card drivers- nothing.
My card is a onboard one, SoundMax HD audio.
Do I have to face format? =/
If I wasn't clear enough- ALL my sound is gone, not just in the game. None of my mp3s play, no MySpace music, no system music, no anything.

Well, my drivers are the newest ones, so that's not the problem.
I really wonder what happened, because just seconds before the "no-sound" thing everything was working perfectly...
I guess I'll move to Win7, I was going to anyway, but damn, I have a lot of stuff to backup.
I checked and Windows Audio service is on, and so is the soundcard in BIOS.

what the hell would that accomplish?
it's still using the drivers of the host OS
have you uninstalled the crap app that caused the problem?
if yes, open your device manager and see the audio devices if there's anything there that is NOT your soundcard
if there is, delete those devices and reboot
if that doesn't help, delete ALL the sound devices and reboot
if the real soundcard doesn't add itself to the devices, reinstall the drivers once more
cos i'm farily sure it's a virtual device that is stealing the playback device setting and being buggy, doesn't relay it to the real soundcard
