|
 |
I've often thought about some old game that would be awesome if it was remade/re-imagined/given a sequel with modern hardware. Tomb Raider: Anniversary is one such example of a game that was given a new spin. It didn't live up to the original but it was a fine attempt nevertheless.
One of those games I think would work today is Outcast. It was revolutionary in it's time, and it used voxels (3d-pixels, it had it's uses, but ultimately the technique died with the advent of more advanced GPU's).

Syndicate, Elite/Frontier, Shadowrun.
I'd die a happy, happy man if I could have those.

Can only hope that it actually materialise.

Carmageddon with todays physics and graphics would indeed be great.
There are several rumours that Starbreeze are working on a new Syndicate.
I'd love to see a System Shock 3 and a Thief 4 (T4 seems to on the way at least)...

Flasback, Space Quest, Zaxon, Thexder, The art of war, Cities of Gold, Lode Runner (a pc classic being remade for the 360), and finally a good Strip Poker for the pc.

There's a remake, sort of... It's called "UFO: Extraterrestrials":

I played it for a while, not bad, it truly reminds you of UFO: Enemy Unknown, even though the developers have nothing in common.

Quote: | Syndicate, Elite/Frontie, Carmageddon, Mechwarrior, Dungeon Keeper, Crusader, UFO, Flashback, Homeworld, Gangsters | So far, these, hands down obviously. Although Syndicate is rumered to be in the works, I already gave up on Elite 4 as it's more vapourware than DNF, and Homeworld rights were bought by THQ a while ago so it mgiht be secretly under way.
Also I want to see:
Alien Legacy: having life-size solar systems and zoomable planet surfaces (as seen in Infinity QFE for example) would be sooooo freaking awesome. Mix that with the gameplay and story of the original and you got yourself an instant hit.
Uplink: I know Introversion said a million times that they will never make a sequel, but it would be so awesome to have a seriously expanded/enhanced gameplay with MMO multiplayer elements. Ahh...one can dream...
Cannon Fodder: N/C
MadTV: N/C
Metal Mutant: N/C
Transport Tycoon Deluxe: Only needs a graphical facelift, leaving every single piece of gamepley element completely intact.
X-Wing/TIE-Fighter: it totally and utterly baffles me why on the f*cking holy mother of George doesn't Lucasarts make a sequel to these games. Even when Jump to Lightspeed came out, the instant reaction from the community was that "if only they would make a full fledged space-sim game with these graphics", yet they still keep screwing around.
The mere absence of the REAL sequel of these games make it clear that LA became the breeding ground for corporate dipsh*ts (consolized shotemups are not worthy sequels and while XWA was great, it somehow lacked something that I couldn't quite put my finger on).
