Singularity

  • Official web page: inSingularity
  • Publisher: Activision
  • Developer: Raven
  • Genre: FPS
  • Release date: 2009
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:
The story revolves around an unnamed island where Russian experiments took place during the height of the Cold War era. At points during the games, locales will undergo a shift in time where the area is either reversed or moved forward through time. Ruined buildings will become new structures featuring Russian political decorations, and one level involving a battleship makes use of this, as the player will enter in the 1950's period and then try to escape in mid-battle while it crumbles around them after one of the aforementioned shifts occur.

the screens look like ps2 to me, but the trailer is alright, and the gameplay makes it sound like a smarter timeshift.

the last game that i've played from raven was quake4 and that sucked, hopefully this'll be better.

Some videos, seems to be CG and such so I'm unsure how much actual game footage there is.

Quake 4 was cool, lay off the booze.

Actually all Raven games are cool, but not "awesome"

Well, they're doing "Wolfenstein", released this year, so they can't be all anti-iD suddenly. Wink

Raven is developing X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which also uses UE3.

I don't see any reason to believe that. They're still on the new Wolfenstein, which is out soon. Just because they're using UE3 is no cause to think that they've cut ties with id; I'd imagine that it has something to do with the Doom 3 engine being so old, and id Tech 5 not being available to license yet (afaik).

its Unreal 3 all unreal games look like blocky washed up crap , they only make up with their map streaming and über shader effects ... well 3,5 adds only more models , water and mass physics and more über shader effects to make up for those awful washed up textures

That's what you get when an engine developers focuses on consoles with 512MB of RAM.

Interesting stuff here:

E3 Gameplay Walkthrough 1

E3 Gameplay Walkthrough 2

E3 Gameplay Walkthrough 3

Looks like we'll have a nice mix between Timeshift, Bioshock and HL2...
Nice use of UE3, with great time effects and decent textures (seems that Raven liked plasmids a lot Laughing ) ; I only hope it won't be too linear, but from an action game like this I don't expect anything than "push that button" or "take this charge and open the door" etc
