If you find the Touch HD cheaper, it has identical specs but a larger screen. As for the updated software on TD2/TP2, it is all available for HD as well. Smile

Really? I thought that as the diamond2 is newer that it is better.. How about comparing it to an iphone which is pretty popular over here, but I really wanted that high resolution screen... And how is the software situation? And it seems like a pain in the ass to unlock the iphone...

plus the diamond 2 seems to able to capture 640x480 videos wheras the hd just captures vids at 352x288..

Just noticed.. the htc touch diamond 2 and hd both have resistive displays, so they don't feature multi-touch.

And they don't have a directional pad... this would make it impossible to use the good snes emulators which are available for windows mobile! Sad

Whereas the iphone has a multi touch screen, which can emulate buttons. (But I haven't tried them 'til now, so they might suck ass)

Not sure about that, but if all you care about is games in the phone, perhaps it is best for you to get an Iphone. Other than that, it is really a toy. Smile

Well I'd really like to play with the emulators when I'm going to work ( I spend 3 hours a day on my way to work) and watch some movies. But I still like to be able to easly mod my phone and use apps that go beyond java features. (I loved to stream my notebook desktop to my s60 and vice versa...)

Would you really recommend the HD over the diamond 2? The only benefit would be the bigger screen but it makes the phone to big for the pocket again. I already have a big phone (my 6630) and I want a phone with a big screen which fits in my pockets.

Yeah, the D2 is smaller than the HD, so I guess it comes down to what you need. Smile

I'm reading that alot of people complain that HTC is only using 528 MHz Qualcomm cpus. Whats wrong with it? Are there any other phones to be released with better technology? I heard that Nvidia is planing to do something in this sector with phones that have a lot of power and need very few power. Is it the right time to buy a new phone?

I suggest you register on http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php and explain exactly what you plan on doing with the device. They have sections for Xperia, HD and TD2/TP2, so you can also read topic from other people about the phones. Smile

The Touch Pro 2 looks very drool worthy, but it will probably have a ~$880 price tag. Laughing Not worth it, to say the least. Smile

Also, you have the Acer M900, but it is still unavailable and price is unknown, so you will have to wait some time. Smile

Yeah that's the only thing which keeps me away from the touch pro 2.

But I'm planning to get the phone with a contract anyway, so it'll be alot cheaper.

The Touch Diamond 2 costs 0 Euro + 25 Euro monthly (basic flatrate that covers landline and 1 mobile provider)

The Xperia X1 costs 89 Euro + 20 Euro monthly (again the same flatrate for 1 mobile provider and fixed subscribers)

I expect the touch pro 2 to be in a slightly more expensive range.

Well they lowered the prices again.
The phone is now at 80 euro but just 20 euro per month, so a little bit cheaper than the x1 Smile

Further I read that the x1 has slower video playback and is a bit laggy.

Leo, as you know much more than I do, did you ever use the diamond 2?

I watched the reviews for the touch Pro 2 and the reviewers said, that they finally got rid of the lags... Does that mean that the diamond 2 has lags? Sad That would really annoy me...

And the touch pro 2 seems to have a new software with wide screen touch flo support. Is it possible to install this onto the diamond 2?

And how hard is it to modify the diamond 2? Is it risky? aaah so many questions, I just don't want to buy an expensive phone and brick it Sad

TD2 and TP2 use the same software, so no, there should be no lags. Smile BTW, I have a Diamond 1, and am using custom mod of the TD2 software, and must admit it is very fast when compared to the old shit that was in the roms. Smile

I change roms on my diamond 1 as often as once a week. No hassle to it really, grinhurtA dudes provide the best tools. Smile You replace the boot program first in order to be able to put custom roms and then you can either flash through the usb, which is slow, or use a memory card with the rom in it and flash from device boot, which is faster and safer. On the Diamond 1 there is internal memory, so I put my roms there, but there should be option to flash from memory card as well for td2/tp2.

That sounds really nice Smile I think I might go for the Touch Diamond 2 then! Can you recommend me some good apps? I know that this is a question which is hard to answer, but I'd like to have a good video player, good music player and maybe some little app with which I can make music... like a simple piano or something like that.. To keep it short, just some apps to kill time when you are on a train for some hours a day Smile

Not sure about piano, but for music and video, Core Player is the answer. Plays everything.

So do I need this special apps which reencode the vids, to play them fluidly? aaah had to do the same for my 6630.. I'll never get rid of those reencoding or what? Laughing

o_O I can't find the scumm vm emulator for windows mobile Sad

Thank you leo. I just don't know if I should wait for the touch pro 2. I'd really like to see how much it will cost, compared to the diamond 2.

Oh and I saw that the Touch Pro 2 had a widescreen touch flo design if you turn it 90°. I haven't seen this on the diamond 2.

you're really the best leo Smile

<3

CorePlayer plays XVIDs just fine, no reencode needed. Due to the nature of x264, don't expect playing anything above 480x360 fluidly though. But xvid is just great, so any dvdrip will do. Smile

Both TD2 and TP2 have the same software and the same monitor and the same accelerometer; TF3D2 will rotate.

Yes, of course it comes for TD2/TP2, that's what it's made for! Laughing It doesn't come for TD1/TP1 but the grinhurtA community has taken care of the issue. Razz

Leo, I have a SD card reader inside my notebook and I consired buying a 8GB micro sdhc class 6 memory card. Will I be able to copy files on it from my notebook?

And which adapters do I need to connect the touch pro 2 to the tv or 3,5mm headphones?
