|
 |
Hi,
I was trying to connect x360 premium to Monitor, have a "17 Samtron 73V LCD; over a DVI-HDMI adapter, then DVI-VGA port and finally to monitor.
Or is it possible to connect via Video-in ? I have a nVidia 8800 GTS (but without HDMI stuff).

If it only has DVI wouldn't he just want to get the xbox hdmi + a dvi cable? I used that for awhile and it was great. If your monitor doesn't have DVI, go the vga route.
That way when you do eventually get a tv you have the hdmi cable for it!
Sounds like his monitor only has VGA and not DVI.

VGA cable for 360 if your monitor doesn't have DVI.
HDMI - DVI - VGA AFAIK will not work
HDMI doesnt pass the analog video like DVI does(HDMI is pure digital, where DVI passes the analog as well as digital). So when converting HDMI - DVI, there is no analog signal present to convert it to VGA.

Yes, that was the point. my monitor has only VGA. I already tried to connect these adapters, but the monitor doesnt even boot...
had to order this thing
....
stupid analog digital crap...
Just went to gamestore today to talk with some moron-employee, he said,
analog --> digital = OK,
digital --> analog = XX.
and the full expierience i can only expect with HDMI to HDMI cable. yeah, maybe its true for 1080p, but he suggested me to buy a new 22" screen for about 600$ and didn't even mentioned that DVI can handle it as well. With DVI i have about 5% Quality loss, with that i can save a lot of bucks, and thats better than playing on an analog monitor, and even better than old 720x576 TV, where you can't even read a small text (textsize 10 and less is absolutely unreadable...)
but now i'll try my luck with X360-VGA cable...

just for the record 360 only upscales up to 1080p, in reality most of the games run on 720p and some on 1080i
for 600$ u can get at least 32" hdtv, if u have 360 with hdmi output then it will be just plug 'n' play
vga cable is best thing if u have a monitor, u will be able to read text but aspect ratio will be a bit screwed, no 16:10 support, if our monitor is 5:4 then u will have black bars in most of the games
games on crt tv's will look like crap no matter what cable u use

Not true. Highend CRT HDTVs Still spank the shit out of fixed pixel TVs. Some of the best HD i have experienced is on a old ultra highend CRT HDTV. Only if properly setup and ISF calibrated though. But most (If not all) TVs should be ISF calibrated to obtain optimal picture.
But this is kinda like the 1080i/1080p arguments, which can go round and round in circles depending on who you talk to etc.

x360 works on all screens with vga or hdmi (-->dvi), for the old xbox you'd need a component input
