|
 |
IGN: Quote: | The plagued prince returns in his first next-gen adventure. Ubisoft has planned a number of adjustments to the series, with a new design for the prince, a new armored gauntlet with incredible powers, and a renewed focus on platforming and physical challenges rather than fighting.
NOTE: This game has been confirmed as a title in production, but exact platform releases have not been confirmed. Please check back for official info. |

I think they should port the POP XBLA Remake to PC, and then remake POP2 for PC

so they basically want to make it more a jump 'n run and less bloody and gory fighting game?
meh... |
Go away.
Fighting was "meh," not exploration. That's way the original, and to some extent the third were much better.
But how do we know it's coming to PC anyway?

play.com had a leak and it showed it on pc, x360, ps3 and wii so... us pc fans should be happy! when i saw the article i remembered a video blog from POPT2T and the producer said something about continuing the pop series but in a new trilogy that didn't refer to the sands trilogy or something like that

Prince of Persia SOT was the ONLY good game in the series.

SOT is the crappiest one of the three, it was simply released first. I have to admit the two others aren't much different, but they have better combats and environments.
From the second link in first post :
Platforms Nintendo Wii, PC, Playstation 3, Xbox 360
I wonder who is the girl we see in what seem to be a crappy gameplay screenshot.

SOT was amazing for when it was released and was the overall better game. It didn't try and distract you from weak gameplay mechanics or worry about overdoing the same thing over and over again.
Granted these reviews don't show me as being right by a far margin, but the only way to quantify it is as such.

SOT was definitely the most inspired one, after that is started becoming a tad repetitive, a bit like pirates of the carribean 1 2 and 3.

TTT was also great. I think the slomo kills were a great way to dispose of multiple enemies quickly, and the dark prince moments, especially at the end were exciting (because of his constant degrading health).

Agreed. SOT proved after a truly awful attempt(pop3d...bleh) that the aging but classic POP series COULD be done in 3 Dimensions and added so much to the formula it almost feels like it evolved its own genre from a mix of others. Anyone who says that SOT was the crappiest of the three obviously didn't play it at the time, but after the other two which were simply refining(rather unspectacular refinements if you ask me) on the formula that SOT developed to bring POP to modern age gaming.
On top of all that, I think the artwork and environments were so much more interesting than the dreary dull and bloom infested sequels. Even tho Throne thankfully did away with the teenage-angst ridden, korn-listening prince that all but ruined the second, it still failed to capture the wonder of SOT's arabian environs that still have yet to be matched.
Hopefully by bringing the focus back on skillfully maneuvering through the environment instead of racking up massive combos via button mashing, this next game can get back to the roots of the series and not another repetitive slash-fest.

I didn't play any "new era" POP game for longer than 2-3 hours cause it get's really boring. The older, first part of POP was awesome.

"focus on platforming and physical challenges rather than fightin" wtf? call it "Alpine Climbing" than, if the fighting is good there should be a lot of it, don't you think that now the climbing part will get boring and repetitive soon I'd rather throw people of the cliff or break pillars by throwing enemy's at them and crack walls with their heads, so much you can do with next-gen lazy ass developers.

SOT was for me the most interesting game of them all, the story was fresh and inspiring, the damsel in distress (or lack thereof) was captivating and added to the thrill of the game, i enjoyed every time those two interacted (yes i'm a geek).
The enviroment and time setting was simply mindboggling, i instantly became infatuated with the timeperiod and began researching all about the persian empire of the time (YES I'M A GEEK!).
The other two was not bad games, but the captivating originality of SOT was of course lost on those games.
I for one would love more exporing and WILD stunts to solve puzzles, and also make them a bit harder since it is too easy to solve each time (speaking of all three games). They should add new items to use instead of bars sticking out of walls, small alchoves and knifeholes. What could be added i do not know, but it should be new things.
The fighting part was not bad, of course it would be a big part of such a game, but maybe the fighting could be incorporated into solving puzzles, use bodies to open, lower, lift or push things.
All in all i am really looking forward to play another POP, and yes, that they choose a new storyline is the right choice for me.
Can't really wait so now i am just counting down until Assassins Creed comes out in europe at the first of february .
Wiooohoooo similar game!!

If they had done the WW story and gameplay elements in the same settings as SoT/TTT, maybe then more people would see beyond the shitty gore and thong wearing monsters.

Beside the dark style and the missing Farah there was something else I didn't like about WW. The level design of WW was too confusing. There were times where I didn't know where I had to go next. It was annoying to go back to old locations again and again. I liked the linear approach of the first game much more.
