There's probably huge amounts of money to be made from making console MMO's but "superior" is certainly not the right word to use.

probably he said that to promote their project.
no console MMO until now was ever successful as a PC MMO
and I don't think that going to change in this Console Gen at least.

Well, WoW 360: Only 4 powers (to coincide with the DPAD ), you must "throw" the other powers when you want others, enemies hurry when they are far, but when they reach 20 meters from you, they stop, look at you funny, start sloooooooooowly moving toward you. And of course, next-gen graphics; blooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom.

A console isn't superior to or for anything. Somebody should hand these guys a dictionary - I think they've got their definitions jumbled. Replace "super" with "infer" and you're on the right track!

The sheet doesn't say anything about consoles being superior to PC, or anything about the technical aspects. The guy probably means consoles are superior for MMO's from a bussiness point of view, which is pretty much correct. The first publisher to bring a reasonably good MMO to teh consoles is gonna make a shitload of money.
Stop acting like a tightass whenever consoles are mentioned.

i love my pc and all but this is just flat-out wrong since there are plenty of exclusives that make consoles have a clear edge over pc when it comes to a certain market.
admitting anything else just makes you a fanboy, plain and simple.

the only thing consoles are superior at, are being cheap, and getting shit up and running quickly and simply... just shove a game in and start, simple as piss... dont need to know anything to hook it up and play and keep the thing working.
as far as reasoning goes for consoles being best for mmo, its just simply not true. consoles are for casual gaming first and foremost... relaxed fun gaming. you ever seen mmo players? theyre generally anything but casual and relaxed... theyre not going to spend hours on a couch staring at the tv, theyre going to spend hours in a dark room hunched over their computer desks, and i cant see that changing... mmo is a completely different mentality to pretty much every game thats best suited to consoles....
this is just like saying consoles are superior for fps gaming...
also looking at that screenshot provided above... this is about mmos but its using rps as an example? isnt that a completely different thing? rpgs are story driven (cept the final fantasy games ), mmos are primarily grind driven....

Consoles have advantages. Even with inferior hardware, the fact it's standardised across the board means developers can eke everything out of it. They have the support, the money, and the userbase to sustain it. Having a more powerful system doesn't mean anything if you don't have any games to run on it. How many of you actually play stuff like Armed Assault 2 for example? Just one game off the top of my head that will tax computers, but it's one of very few in the past couple of years.
Console MMO could be successful if it's an established IP I suppose, but maybe the free MMO's supported by micro-transactions are more suited to the platform. Just because they have a large userbase doesn't mean they'd eat it up.

They are actually losing all of those qualities. Console are getting much more expensive as each generation comes out. Not only to the consumer but its gotten to the point where even the company now makes a loss with each console made. While this may be acceptable right now but when they become even more costly something is going to break.I also see games costing $60 for consoles now when the typical price not to long ago was $40 and sometimes $50 that's quite a increase and it can only be expected to go up can we expect to see next generation console games being up to $70-80? It being cheaper is already debatable.
As for ease of use now that consoles have become more like PCs they are starting to adopt the problems such as games needing patches or even failing to give a full performance due to hardware limitations. You know something is wrong when current generation console can have games that can suffer from slowdowns. When this happens to a PC user its a sign that its time to upgrade but the console gamers are just stuck with what they have.

times are changing, as is the image of playing MMos itself. just look at WoW - nowadays even girls play it, although we all know that there are no girls on teh interwebz
and this

might come sooner than we may think. just look at halo, back then it was announced as the next big PC FPS thing, then it was going down the shitter, came out as one of the most watered down FPSes i've ever played (co-op campaign mode is still good tho if you're stoned ) and those little console faggots were all over it, plus it pushed live gold membership sales. now imagine what would happen if they released a diluted form of WoW for consoles. i wouldn't play it - but for sure as hell, i'd buy stocks!

true dat. maybe asking for the usual MMO subscription price is too much, but if people are spending a few hundred MS points on fucking nxe avatar clothing, then it could almost be considered a bargain if you purchase stuff that has an actual funtion in a game

Arrrrrghhh matey, blisterin' barnacles, only a swashbucklin' yellow-bellied sea bass would play an MMO on a dirty console.

because obviously trivial shit like this is so important to determine which platform is better when it comes to gaming.

granted mmo's is like a horrible example but it still doesn't mean there aren't console games that require the same attention by a player... hell it's not even the same but much more.
point in case have you ever seen high level fighting game players? the amount of depth and skill level needed by a person in that genre(some moreso than others so never mind trash like super smash brawl for the popular crowd) is only rivaled by those playing RTS for PC on a high level.
daigo, currently the world's best street fighter 4 player, is one such example and believe me he's anything but relaxed and casual when it comes to his play.

the only way I Could think of Console could be "Superior" in a MMO
is to "Dumb down" the game for the console's controls, just like
Company's did to RTS games.

One of the bulletpoints said 'the livingroom is king'. I don't believe that for a second as far as MMO's concerned. MMO's aren't like ordinary games. They're social games dependant on other players to reach it's fullest potential. Often you need scheduling, voice coms and vast amounts of continuous time when playing. Any other family member will not be particularly happy with an MMO-players that perceives the livingroom as king.
I just don't think the MMO as a niche is particularly suited for the casual gamer market. I also think the monthly fee is an issue for many but hardcore gamers or fans of the genre.
Another point is durability. Some MMO's would outlive the platform they're made for. Take EVE as an example. It's been around since what 2002-2003?

But think about it the other way around, say a big MMO really took off on the 360, in whatever form they make it in (watered down compared to a PC style MMO or whatever). There will be some sort of persistent world anyway, when the console nears the end of it's lifecycle they can start developing a whole new engine for the new console based on the old game, everyone who has an account on the first game will be able to move their character and shit over to the new one, great incentive to keep users on the platform for the next generation of consoles.
