release date - November

CVG can confirm that Activision has pencilled in a November release for the seventh Call Of Duty - which will be set in the late 1960s, during the Vietnam War.

Following this week's rumours, a senior UK trade source today told us that the Treyarch-developed title is scheduled to arrive a full 12 months after last year's Modern Warfare 2.

They added that the game would be set during the Vietnam conflict - and takes particular influence from classic movies Apocalypse Now and Platoon.

"It's going to be November again - just as with World At War and Modern Warfare 2," they told CVG.

"Activision believes that it can own Christmas 2010, just as it has in the last two years.

"Development is on course - and Treyarch have been told the game must be ready to hit shelves before the gifting season."

After WaW, witch imo was the final statement COD made in WW2, I always suspected that they jump a few years and make either a Vietnam or a Korean War game, and between those two my suspicions always leaned towards Vietnam obviously.

it's not like someone put a gun to your head and forced you to play it Laughing

imo, cod5 was a solid game and treyarch especially did a good job portraying the gruesomeness of war. if they keep it up, this could actually be the first decent single player vietnam war game.

I hope this sets a trend for 'nam games with less on-rails gameplay, and using cryengine or arma 2 engine-type technology, which this game obviously won't.

What a fucking asshat statement. Screw making this game good or adding something new, just make it ready to rake in cash next Christmas. This continuous 'strategy' of milking shit is unbelievable, yet all the sheep keep lapping it up. How fucking stupid are people.

Maybe one player character will be a green beret who gets captured on some special ops mission. Then he gets traumatized by having to stay all day in leech pit and having the dirty gooks throw waste buckets on him. Finally he escapes and returns to the US but instead of being welcomed as heroes, those bastards dare call the veterans baby killers and the player character starts wandering around and then some redneck bastard sheriff decides to push him and takes him to the jail but he escapes on some kid's motorbike to the nearby woods and pwns those noobs one by one and destroys the whole town and IT'S NEVER OVER YOU JUST DON'T TURN IT OFF WHY DID WE LOSE THEY DIDN'T LET US WIN COLONEL!!

Yeah I'd buy that game.

I gotta admit I didn't like World at War all that much but that's just because I've freaking had it with WW2 games. That's why Modern Warfare was such a "fresh breeze of air".
A problem I have with games set in Vietnam is they tend to utterly glorify the US troops and well, it feels like the dark sides are being left out (then again, name the war games that show us the dark sides of war). I don't mean like troops killing off a complete village.
What I would like to see are games set in the big wars that portray them sort of like Band of Brothers did. Am I making sense here?

oh, and btw.
