As is the first patch, released about a day before the game retailed, I'd really recommend it if possible to use it with whatever released version there is.

Changelist (German, might do a quick google translate as well.)

EDIT: No current release date for any other version aside from the German one however.

EDIT: And a technical preview.

Seems like a good game, but unfortunately no english texts available like in divinity 2. Sad
But that was to be expected I guess.

Based on the files inside the patch (And a hex editor) the text is located in the "\Venetica_Patch_1.01_DE\{app}\media\shared\string_tables\German.bin" file, unsure how to open it though, need to look up the "OGRE" engine it's using.

EDIT: Actually it looks more like a compressed or packed single file than a group of files packed in a sort o .bin format archive, might not be possible to alter it, or atleast it won't be as easy as I first thought, will have to experiment with it a bit but there are rumors about a English version being released as early as in two or three months so it might not be that long of a wait. Smile
(Unsure about other localizations.)

I highly doubt the german version has english included like in divinity 2.
I tried fiddling with various settings and the result was always the same...bloody german! Very Happy

I tried regedit, user settings(has a line specifically for text and spoken language) and renaming the files.

Gotta wait for english it seems. Sad
Shame really...
But I could be missing something, hope I am. Very Happy

If there's only the German.bin file then there's only German text (And obviouly either way it would only be with German voices.), file doesn't include any other languages, seems to be some sort of table of various script names or actions plus the response they give, unsure how to work with the file but probably best to wait for a international release.

At least the Germans are still making games for the PC. That's something to be happy about.
Germany is also the last bastion of the PC-Game market. The PC is still stronger than consoles in Germany.

Similar to the above spoiler but I ran the changelog trough the German -> English text converter, should give a clearer view on what the update does.
(Not perfect or anything but understandable.)

EDIT: From Google.

Ah well, looks fun.. but meh.. German only. Guess I'll wait the inevitable 12 months for the English version.

1C has recently started localizing and publishing more "local" titles or what to call them but some games would be difficult to market and make successful as the English game market is flooded by titles, even more so if it's a lower budget PC only game.
(Turgor / Tension for example and various releases that are starting to appear first now like Kings Bounty Armored Princess and such.)

Bit easier for German studios I suppose but it still needs to be localized and published which might take time.
(Sacred 2 Ice & Blood doesn't have a set date for example, albeit as the company has now went under that's not surprising, shame about the wonky Windows 7 compatibility as well and any future updates that could have been released.)
