There's a demo of this on PSN now, it has two levels, one where you pick up all that junk and another where you water some plants (or some shit - I didn't actually like that one). Again, I'm a PC zealot who's never played the originals (for shame Embarassed) so this is all new to me (and might be why I appreciated Noby, Noby boy more than some other folk) but it's mad crazy fun - and the dialogue and zany ambience is hilarious.

...actual gameplay is very simple, roll around and pick up stuff... I guess?

Video of it in action here; and some impressions from Joystiq.

...and of course there's a (~400MB) demo so you can see for yourself. I recommend whilst that robot guy is still talking you skip listening to him and just start rolling around, he gets upset Laughing

Looks like more of the same. It's 10th or so Katamari game and they didn't change a thing since the first one Sad

Apparently there are new levels and additions, but obviously I'm not the best person to talk about that since I've never played the originals to make that distinction. It is in glorious 1080p if that's any consolation.

It's not a port of the 360 game, I know that much. Here's a quote from another forum which clarifies it a bit better;

Quote:
From the title of the topic, I'm assuming you're trying to decide between buying BK now or waiting to buy KF upon US release. In that case, the decision is analogous to buying a music album versus a greatest hits collection. In the former case (BK), you get a more integrated game with a more logical progression from one level to the next. In the latter case (KF), you'll get a good sampling of levels from the three previous games (BK is well represented, but so is WLK and there are some appearances from the original KD as well) plus a few new levels.

Yes, KF has 1080p graphics, more modes, more levels in total, different art designs, and feels better with the symmetric analogs of the PS3 controller. Primarily though, the decision comes down to whether you prefer an integrated game or a greatest hits collection from the series.

If you already have BK and are wondering if KF is exactly the same, then I'll tell you no it's not, especially if you haven't played the first two games in the series.

For the record, I have the Japanese version -- Katamari Damacy Tribute -- so my opinion is based on firsthand experience with the new game along with the rest of the series.

It's not a port, it runs at 1080p, more modes and levels than the 360 title, featuring as it does levels from 'Beautiful Katmari' as well as the original 'Katamari Damacy' and 'We Love Katamari', as well as a few new ones, it has new graphical effects (cell shading and so forth), new if minor gameplay additions and the benefit of being on the PS3.

...so yeah it did explain quite a bit, but considering I haven't even played any of the original games this is all moot to me.

I get aliasing on my LCD too but I took a lot of it as being part of the graphical style, it was less evident (if I recall) in the water level, but I'll have to check before I commit to that. I do notice a lot of variance in image quality with the PS3 depending on the display you output to though. A monitor designed for PC's is going to do it no favours for example - exposing the aliasing as though it were Natan in disguise.
