|
 |
Yeah, so I log onto steam today to play a game of natural selection mod, and it says my account is disabled. Hmm, well, gosh, valve just stole 54 dollars from me, then Oh G, I went out and purchased HL2 today as well. That is 108 dollars valve stole from me in total now.
Now, something obviously needs to be done with them as they have done this to a reported 20k of people. If those 20k of people, which they claim got the warez version of HL2 sent a letter to the better business buraeu, I'm sure we would get our monies back.
How many other people here got their accounts disabled?

I also wanted to add that if you just take those 20k accounts, then assume each one had HL (50 dollars basically) that is 1 million dollars valve has taken away.

How do they find out? Does it call home in the background while playing the game? just playing the stand alone so not logged into any steam account.

They stole $108 from you, but you're the dumbass trying to pirate their game? Are you REALLY that dumb? 20,000 people got banned for being idiots, it's not Valves fault. Good luck trying to get anything done about it through the court system, they have pletny of logs to see who owns it legit and who doesn't. Just admit it, you were wrong and got caught now you're paying the price.
Even if you bought the game, you were stupid enough to try and unlock it with the key that VALVE released to trap retards. If you took to the time to bother reading their forums, you'd see that if you legitimately purchsed the game, you can scan a receipt or proof of purchase or send the full game back to vivendi and they will give you your money back or give you a new game that will work on Steam.
If anything atleast you learned a lesson, don't be so stupid in the future .

Do I give a shit? No. But the fact remains, A game which I legally purchased 6 years ago, I am now unable to use. Did it say anything in the original EULA about something like this? No. And it doesnt matter, HL and HL2 are 2 different products. That is like me walking into best buy, stealing HL2, then they come to my house and steal everything else ive legally bought from them in the past.

what valve should have done is disable online capabilities not the entire account. Thousands of people who bought their games are now being robbed. for what? Sure some tried to use the illegal ways of getting their games valve could have just disabled those games or black list them so they can't get any other games in the future. Disabling an account is wrong. Even if it does teach you a lesson it is still theft. They should take back what you took and not what you paid for. They can check what is legitimate and what is not.
"That is like me walking into best buy, stealing HL2, then they come to my house and steal everything else ive legally bought from them in the past."
Fuckin A!
valve makes decent games but they are a bunch of god damn mother fuckers. And if you read any of my anti-valve posts and disagreed with me now you can see/understand why I hate them.
They shut down illegal sites that had maps made with leaked mapping/modding tools. They shut down sites that spread out hacks for their games. Hate them or love them hacks allow users to exploit/modify their games. If you put a ban on every thing that makes the majority of the users feel inadequate or feel less superior then that's fucking pointless.
Half life community is a modding community and they are shutting down the communities that are hated or different.
It’s all about their god damn cheques. You try to steal a 39.99/29.99 dollar game they disable your account that you spent over 100 dollars on. That is not justifiable. If it were a temp ban then fuck it. But a perm ban. Though you could e-mail them saying that you want your money back and if there’s a possibility of them saying that you stole from them say that you’ll pay the price of the game you stole and they should pay the amount of money they stole from you. You won’t pay they won’t pay. If they do then so should you. 29.99 or what ever their shitty games cost seems a rational price to get your account back.
Most of their ban reasons are stupid. Uh you used a fake cc number several times. Ugh Ugh with using different names. Martha Bronx, Stewart Davidson and also Jeffery Davidson. You were using different numbers and different birthday dates. And you have used the same ip address (very smart) Well your account is banned. For credit card fraud.
God...

Yep HL2 is GOTY for me too. Such a great game. And sorry your account got banned but you should of bought the great game.
Oh and Mchart you can still play HL1 if you bought it. You just don't go through Steam. But you can only play single player.

No, I bought counterstrike Retail, which is multiplay only. All I wanted to do is play fucking TFC, and natural selection. I have emailed them saying I at least want the ability to use my cdkey for HL again, but have gotten no response yet, and I doubt I ever will. If they perma ban me from legally purchasing HL2 ever again, fine, go ahead. But the fact that they are perma removing my legally bought game is complete BS. It's great to, now that valve has done this there is no way in fuck I am ever going to buy one of their products ever again, and I was going to ask for HL2 for christmas, what stupid motherfuckers. Sure, a lot of the people that illegally have the game may not buy it at all in the future, but I sure as hell can tell you there are still a lot who have it illegally, that WILL buy it in the future. I personally hope the better business bureua gets on valve's ass, or VUGames gets on valves ass, because valve is REMOVING THE ABILITY TO PLAY A GAME WHICH PEOPLE LEGALLY AQUIRED. No where in the Original HL EULA did it say that game would be taken away because I illegally got HL2. What I think Valve thinks, is that they are just taking steam away from people, and not the game. The only problem with this is that we all know that many of Valves games are multiplayer only, and by doing that you are effectively stealing that legally bought game from that person. In all honesty if I had 10-20 thousand dollars to spend on an attorney right now, I would. Why? Because I know for a fact I would win the case.

Oh and On another note, now that I hate valve so much, I will make it my personal mission to learn how to crack steam operated games. LOL and what fucking cocksuckers, I just got an email from valve right now saying - HL2 Is now Available. Yeah, Ok, first on the list after moving into my una-bomber style shack with posters of gabe newell hung up as wallpaper, is to get my HL working online.

Steam is a big pile of urine and the best action you can take is to not patronize valve by purchasing any of their products.

Let's see.
a) Several people (the ones I addressed as pirates) openly admitted in this thread that they pirated HL2. I suggest you read again and then try to tell me that they did buy the game when they just stated otherwise.
b) That you feel attacked by my post strongly indicates that you do pirate games at least occasionally.
c) I couldn't care less about your faked morale speech. I spend a lot of money on games and dvds. Less than you? Don't know, don't care. Kudos to you if you do reward companies for producing quality stuff, I sure do. Bought three games this week and pirated none. But let's not compare penis size in form of our cd/dvd racks. Simple fact is you're here on a site dedicated to piracy, don't pretend you're here because you searched for a forum dedicated to games, it's silly and nobody believes you anyway.
