I saw a preview for this in some mag a while ago and was a little interested.

I still have still life 2 to play, so I have something for now but the more adventures the better.

i hope this one is more in line with the cthulhu game than the arsene lupin one
that was just plain puzzles stringed up together with very little to do with the narrative
looks nice though, as usual

Dunno the first one came out on the original xbox, so I hope so because I can then play it with the wife (who likes adventure games too) if not i have to find the cable for the notebook to plug it into the tv :q

Demo, haven't tried it myself and the last title I played in this serie was that Chutul one so I'm a bit behind.

EDIT: Chutl? Chutulu? something like that anyhow, hard to pronounce (Well, spell them actually.) those words.

EDIT: Note to self, read article fully before commenting on it.

WTF?! I have some laggy mouse movement in the menu - really slow and it takes me decades to reach from one submenu to the other. The mouse moves like a bitch. God damn i'm pissed.

I finished the demo too. And is great. The atmosphere of the 19th-century London is so authentic and overwhelming. Graphics set to max are magnificent for an adventure game. It's praise-worthy they've actually put some effort and time in building a nice game engine. And the switch-from-1st-to-3rd-perspective-and-backwards gimmick is something i've always wanted to see really happen in a quest game. I sense this is gonna be by far the best sherlock game ever. Sad there isn't a rls yet...Very Happy

are you guys serious?
you enjoy running errands to unimportant characters for no reason other than lazy design?
working at a hardware store must sound like a dream job for you guys

engine and base mechanics are great and all (especially liked the 1st person / traditional adventure switch button)
but come on

So what is this game. From those hard ones where you point and click and you can't change the resolution? Confused

No, it isn't. It requires NVIDIA Physx and you can set it to any resolution you like including AA and AF. It is both first person and third person looking, you switch it as you like. This is classical Sherlock detective game where you investigate murder scenes, collect evidence and draw conclusions. Not for those who only mash sticks on their gamepads.

Is this any good? I love adventure games, but after playing Secret Files 2 and Still Life 2 I'm a bit... suspicious.

It uses the same engine as Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. It's all FPS adventure style, graphics are so-so, could be better in the lighting department. It's kind of a weird engine. You should be a bit into the Sherlock Holmes lore to understand the characters, or it will take you longer.

I played through The Awakened when that was out and just started playing this, feels better than the crap Still Life 2 for most parts at least.

still life 2 is crap, but i've played about three quarters from secret files 2 and, besides the chicks voice, it's pretty good.

i wouldn't touch a sherlock holmes game with a pole, though. i've tried a couple and they sucked, lame and obscure puzzles, pixel hunts, etc. and the others that i haven't tried, i've read about and it seems i haven't missed much.

oh and hunting for objects in first person mode = teh stupidz.

i didn't even wanna bother with the game and went straight to a forum reading who the murderer was.
