AMD GAVE COMPUTEX VISITORS a bit of a treat this morning in Taipei at its press conference by showing off the world's first demo of DX11 graphics silicon, which is suspected to be the forthcoming RV870 GPU.
The demo, aptly dubbed "Knight" - as in AMD's knight in shining armour we assume - was probably the biggest news to emerge from AMD in awhile and was all the more special for its heavy use of tessellation technology, which apparently allows for more realistic and detailed surfaces.

Seems that ATI expects a few DX11 titles this year, makes sense for them to work on hardware capable of utilizing it and having it ready, perhaps not for W7 (Which seems to have it inbuilt and is set to RTM next month from what I've read.) but for later this year.
Guess MS will offer a Vista download of it as well such as a DirectX redist, although I wonder what the initial titles will use of DX11 seeing as most stuff can be done with DX 9 or rather 9.c and SM 3.0 although DX10 is a bit more refined and improved in terms of speed and such and DX11 does have a few interesting functions.
(Tesselation for example albeit visual differences would be rather small for normal usage.)
