So, a few weeks ago, MPC HC stopped playing my mkv's. So i uninstalled everything, cleaned the registry and ju downloaded the most recent version.

And now, it still doesn't play my mkv-files.. Either freezes or stops att 0:00:00.

Anyone have any idea why? Ihaven't installed any codecs either, I used to run GPU acceleration in MPC.

Now i play with KMPlayer, and yeah it works, but i want my MPC HC.. :/

I found some Win7 codecs, K-Lite works normally in Win7? And if everything is working well, do I really need them? Laughing

Oh and btw, when I first installed MPC HC everything worked perfectly even without codecs Neutral

Well if you care about your HD quality do the following:

Get the latest MPC HC (32bit version, because 64bit one requires 64bit codecs), install it etc.

Get CoreAVC and AC3 Filter.

Set MPC HC to use EVR Custom Pres as a renderer. Disable MPC HC's internal x264, h264, DTS, AC3 decoding, instead use CoreAVC and AC3 Filter for superior quality.

DO NOT USE ANY FUCKED UP CODEC PACKS. THere is on such thing as a good codec pack. Evil or Very Mad

While I was logged out, I involuntarily read the above post. Allow me to

at the mere notion of putting CoreAVC and the descriptor "quality" in the same post. Did you not mention "HDB" in the past (trying to appear videophile)? If so, and if you are indeed a member there, do a search to see what the HDB community thinks about CoreAVC (even the latest versions, especially the CUDA variant).

libavcodec (native internal MPC-HC, VLC, KMP and FFDSHOW). The MPC-HC DXVA codec is also great (it is based on libavcodec with modification to make use of DXVA on both nVidia and ATI up to level 5.1). Smile

You are one incredibly misinformed and confused person, but here you go. Quotes from Hdbits forum:

Quote:
Slighty offtopic - is there still any picture quality difference between ffdshow and coreavc? ffdshow was slighty better in terms of picture quality around two years ago (and that was one of the main reasons I changed from coreavc to ffdshow).

Quote:
Thats not an issue anymore in my book. I found both to be great.

Quote:
Yep, the testfile I had problems with with 1.9 plays just fine now with 1.9.5... No visible PQ difference on that one (Thats it thats all - 720p - Don)
I'll keep CUDA enabled and will try to look out for problems... I got the CPU Power to play everything, but when the GF cranks up the heat in the appartment, sometimes the fans become a bit louder while playing stuff...
HD without any CPU Utilization is quite nice...

Why use CoreAVC, or any other codec for that matter, when the one included in MPC HC is geat? I installed MPC HC instead of CoreAVC, using DXVA and never looked back. Works great in every aspect with great quality.

CoreAVC gives great control over color space, output method and other stuff, which built in decoder is lacking.
