Holy shit... ok, now that's impressive! See Sony? THOSE are the sales figures you're looking at when you finally price your hardware at acceptable levels! £249 is a lot easier for people to swallow than £400!
Stop being such cunts and EMBRACE the people who put food on your table!
(oh yeah and £249 for the PSPGo? Are you having a fucking laugh?)

Good point, what astonishes me is how the British consumer doesn't respond when both hardware and software sells in currency parity between the US, Europe and Japan but not the UK.

That's because we live (well, I USED to.. but you get the idea) in Rip-Off Britain. Everything about that fucking cess-pool is massively, unfairly, overpriced compared to the rest of the world - and far out of proportion with the wages, too.
I actually dislike the new trend that seems to be sweeping the world, the trend that when something costs $400 in America, it costs €400 in Europe and £400 in the UK. God I hate that. It really grinds my gears.
£ != $ != €, fucking morons need to figure that out.

As long as no one complains about the currency 'conversion' BS, nothing will change. Sadly most people think it's normal to pay the same price in euros, while that of course makes no sense. The argument "the people in the EU have more to spend if you convert the wages to dollars" is just retarded and irrelevant. The manufacturer still spends the same amount of $, so how much the EU consumer makes more compared to the US consumer should have no effect :/ Valve is a great example. It's an online distribution channel ffs, they don't have to spend more to cater the EU consumers.

It's nothing more than pure and simple greed. They can spin this bullshit any which way they want, but anyone with a brain can see; it's nothing but abject GREED. These assholes have figured out that €/£ are worth more than $, so they'll ramp the prices up in Europe/UK and make a massive profit.

I attempted to discover the reasoning behind the disparity and was told by a number of major publishers "we don't disclose pricing policy" which can only make me assume that it's UK industry price fixing.

I already have an original PS3 that I don't use, should I get a slim? Yes I know, it does have some good exclusive games.

Sorry bud, I was being a sarcastic a-hole. One PS3 that comes out of storage ever 6 months is enough, no matter what the form factor. LOL

Doesn't the slim have a worse quality BR drive?
The whole rip-off Britain doesn't hold water either. It comes down to economics and wages which the british media can't quite grasp therefore they report anything they like and joe plumber laps it up.

Thats great news for ps3 platform..hopefully we can see more ps3 exclusive games now.
And for the poster of this thread, i think "fanboys" are ridiculous, im not saying you are or not but its a sign that he or she is not a "true gamer".... imho
I think the "real" gamers of this world are not swing'n the nutsack of a specific platform because they want to see all platforms to succeed as each platform has their own exclusive AAA games....and although i am more of a 360 gamer, i also enjoy pc and ps3 as well and you would NEVER see me take a cheap shot at a specific platform like the poster just did..its kinda immature anyways lol
Oh and for good measure - just because ps3 sold 1 million on three weeks does not mean its gonna last that way after a few months. Well i do believe ps3 will have a solid holiday this year but after that..hmm, well see..i been let down far more with ps3 then not this gen.

My guess is that most of those people, who bought that new slim PS3, will use it only for the Blu-ray player... I know some people like that who rent/ buy only BD movies.
We'll have to see if the software sales will also increase for Sony.

They should do, IMO. Now that the machine is priced more attractively, it should bring in a larger playerbase - mostly people who wanted a PS3 (like myself) but were unwilling/unable to pay the £350+ cost. Once the playerbase increases, software sales will increase (even more so given the unhacked nature of the console) and that will bring even more developers to the table.
