It's already getting very positive reviews from websites and general public, pretty soon will dominate antivirus market.

Free antivirus thats good? Now THAT would be awesome. While I never use such memory- and cpu-waster, my family members would be blessed.

It already ranks above NOD32 and KIS6 in virus detection (don't ask me for sources, Google and NeoWin are your friends). Also, it is very fast, no slowdowns at all like I get with NOD32, has a small memory footprint, and it's fucking free!

Poor Microsoft. You just watch the EU fuckjobs sue them for millions again. Why? "Cornering the market on AV suites, undercutting their competitors by offering a better solution for free"

Rolling Eyes

Seriously, that company can't catch a fucking break these days. I remember when OneCare was the *only* AV/Spyware suite EVER that could not only find, but completely eliminate, Vundo (don't both to try and correct me, I tested every major - and crappy freeware - suites when I got slammed with Vundo. None of them worked. Only one to work was OneCare) -- I'm definitely gonna get this, might switch from Avast! too.

Thanks for the update!

I don't know, I'm kinda sceptical... I remember that there was a research done on browser security, and IE8 came up at first place. Oh, did I mention that research was funded by Microsoft? Very Happy

So far BitDefender does the job...

And I don't think they'll get sued because it's like with messenger and other Live stuff: you can dl them, but they don't come with windows any more...

slowdowns? never had trouble with nod32 its my prefered choice for small footprint and can even run it on resident scanning and see no change in pc performance... still rate it as best "overall" to use with desktop and laptop...

If MS do better with this free shit u can bet there is gonna be a big stink about it lol...

Aye, it's so clean, tiny and fast. It makes AVs like NOD32 look bloated.

Did anyone done some hardcore tests with this? It would be interesting to see this app in real action. Cleaning fully infected PC and also protecting clean PC if you try to download/run some random malware crap.

Might take a closer look at it when my KIS license runs out next year until then, I'm all good. (If they manage to get a good working version for Win7... screw you Kaspersky, what am I paying for? *shakes fist*)

Well it's using database similar to windows defender. And windows defender is very underrated imo.

I was infected once in the last 3 years or so. I tried pretty much every AV software there is, your NODs, AVGs and so on and none of them found anything. Then I thought, fuck it, I'll just enable defender and scan my PC with it for lulz. And what do you know, the moment I enabled it virus was detected and removed. Ever since then my opinion about defender changed big time.

And this is not just some random occurance. Few days ago similar stuff happened to my friend, he also tried all the major AVs and only defender helped. Virus was brand new from august 2009.

So if Win Defender is of any indication MSE will be great. BTW, MSE is running in place of Defender, so they don't intervene with one another.

Finally ! A good free antivirus solution with the guarantee of MS ... I was getting tired of using leaked keys for NOD32 on all my friends.

And I guess this will update itself through windows updates, right ? So, it's virtually fool-proof and future-proof.

I want to install it but I don't want it to be constantly active, can I just enable/disable its real-time protection when I want ?

EDIT: Can I install this on the grace period ? I haven't installed any loader yet, just rearming !

EDIT: From what I'm reading I cannot Sad

Yes you can enable/disable real time protection easily.

And why not just use a loader?

What if they're suddenly detected as malicious ? And removed ? I remember the malicious software removal would detect my cracked shit on XP but it wouldn't do anything about it, but it was strange.

I just want the dust to settle nicely, I still got 2,5 months to go Very Happy

It won't get detected, but if you are THAT paranoid all the loaders can be uninstalled and system can be restored to grace period with no harm done.

You can also do a bios slic mod, that way there will be NO files on your computer indicating that windows are cracked.

Hehe I love how when it did a full scan, it came across a directory of Themida packed executables and just paused there for about 1 minute Very Happy Guess it has some interesting heuristics, because it didn't flag any of them (which is correct) .

You should find something malicious that's really detected by it, then pack it with themida with different options Very Happy

So we can see how good its execution emulator really is.
