Given the date and the ways those cards looked inside the machine, I'm inclined to believe they were Voodoo's. Probably the Voodoo 2, which was also released in 1998.

SCSI drives still make most IDE drives *these days* look like piece of shit floppies SCSI UltraWide 160, 320 and even, for the ludicrously Bill Gates-style rich, the UltraWide 640 (150MB/s, 300MB/s and 640MB/s respectively -- yes, that's MEGABYTES per second ) were insane!
