Muramasa: The Demon Blade

  • Official web page: LINK
  • Developer: Vanillaware
  • Genre: Action RPG
  • Release date: September 2009
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:
Muramasa follows the story of Kisuke, a fugitive who has lost his memory, including that of a crime that he committed and Momohime, a lithe female ronin possessed by a dark spirit.
Graphically the game is similar to Odin Sphere, retaining the same hand-drawn 2D art style, though inspiration was drawn from Japanese mythology and culture rather than Norse mythology. The game has over 30 different stages.

Two playable characters are selectable: Kisuke, a young amnesiac ninja, and Momohime, a young princess of Narukami Han, Mino Province. Momohime starts off in the eastern Edo and goes to the western Kyo, while Kisuke goes the opposite direction. Both wield three katana out of 108 to collect and forge.

Sooo I finally gave in to some friends' suggestions and got myself a Wii.
One of the first games I decided to try out was Muramasa: The Demon Blade...

So I come on here and see if there's a thread for it and it turns out that there isn't?!
Blasphemy!

After playing this game I just feel the need to spread the word:
This game is awesome!!!

I love it! It looks beatiful and the combat is just so much fun. The bosses are great, the controls are great, the music is outstanding and it even has japanese voices!

There's not really a lot of games on the Wii I'm interested in and I didn't really expect to find a game I like so much on this system. It really caught me off guard and crushed any feelings of uncertainty I had about my Wii purchase.

Grab this game now!

Wow, until now we didn't have a thread for this game?? It's awesome, the art is amazing and it really feels like an old school smurai movie. It got a bit repetative though. Would've liked more button combos instead of just mash A to win.

i can has computar?!

Heh yeah I agree, it could have used a little more basic move variety.

Still it's not like it's so easy because there is a limited move set. The battles are just more about timing, movement and which swords you bring.

Oh and I recommend to start playing on Shura mode and not Musou mode. As there is no big penalty for dying I believe the game is more enjoyable on Shura as it's a lot more challenging but not frustrating. The only penalty for dying is that you start at the beginning of the area you died in, and these areas usually just take a few seconds to pass so you're not actually losing any progress. It's pretty cool and allows you to try different tactics for battles quickly.

Oh and just for everyone's happiness; This is one the rare near-flawless titles on Dolphin emulator. 100% speed, 100% of the time, 0% glitches - from what I've seen - though you need a patch code to fix a crash before the end credits.
