Thank goodness I stayed on 1.5.1..so those of us who are running 1.5.1 we dont have to do anything? I think another reason why the cars o rama game did not work is because it is nuked..I read some people who were running 1.5 said the game still does not work, perhaps because they dont have 1.5.1 that might have made the difference. Funny how Forza 3 does not have this wave 4 but this game does

Dang I flashed my drive to 1.6
I dont understand why 1.51 doesn't have any problems running Wave 4. I wouldve thought itd be the other way around

I am really confused. I am reading different things, if we have 1.5.1 can we still play wave 4 games or do we have to upgrade to a newer firmware

Yes, you can play Wave4 games. It sounds backwards, you'd think a newer fw would play newer games, however, 1.6 added stricter rules than 1.51 to boot games.
This is why 1.51 will boot wave4 and 1.6 will not. 1.6 has stronger enforcement of its checks, and will not boot.
I'm not too worried, the fw guys are usually pretty fast with this stuff. Still plenty of time for them to code/test/release a 1.61 before MW2 comes out...
Although I am scared for Borderlands, one of the games I'm looking forward to the most...

Stupid question that I am sure has been asked before, but how do I find out which vers I have? I bought my box pre-flashed. It was a couple of yrs ago so can only assume its an old vers.

did you have to patch wave3 games? if yes - it's an old ixtreme fw (1.4 and below). if no, it's xtreme fw (which should run wave4 games just fine btw)

no one knows yet - maybe it's possible with the old patch, maybe not. i doubt it though, as it depends on the size (and location) of the update. from a technical standpoint, an updated patch file would be no biggie to make, you should be able to knock out the wave4 update the same way as wave3.

What's the deal about this iextreme firmwares and wave games?
I flashed my drive 3 years ago at the end of 2006. I think it was ommodore4eva's Xtreme firmware 4.0 or something. Every single game worked without a problem and I haven't been banned yet.

Quote: | One shot boot mode allows you to boot a Wave X or non stealth game by using the activate.iso disk as a flag.
Just insert the activate disc and the next disc inserted will boot without any strict checks. This will still utilise full stealth if available. As soon as that disc is booted the flag is cleared, and you will have to re-insert the activate disk
again to enable one shot boot. As always use with caution. |

Just remember guys that new liteons with 8xxxxx fw cant be downgraded to 1.51,there is only 1.6 fw available for new liteons so dont try downgrading them unless you want a brick.

How does this work for IExtreme 1.6 flashed consoles? |
You need to burn activate.iso to a DL and use that every time you want to play wave4 game. It's pretty ridiculous, as you don't need any of that if you have iX 1.51. That's why I was encouraging everyone on this forum from updating to 1.6

only games that have gone gold before the incorporation of the new update starts are "old" wave. with a bit of luck MW2 will be wave3, but asscreed2 most certainly will be wave4

Surely they'll just make a PPF patch for people with old ass firmware that are already banned, don't give a shit, and want to play Wave4 games offline...!
