I would say keep the retro's out of this cause we all know the indestructable NES rectable beats all but, have at it.
Personally as of now, I would have to say I love the gamecube's gamepad the most. Something about it just worked great and fit well, and I have large hands too.

One of those adapters that allow the use of mouse & KB.
Or a 360 gamepad if the above is too awesome to be accepted - I detest gamepads but at least that one fits in my hands perfectly.

The 360 controller is the best overall IMO, but I prefer the shape of the dualshock myself. If the dualshock's sticks were tightned up a little and the left stick swapped with the d-pads position then I have no doubt that it would be my favourite.

Xbox 360 is the most comfortable one but the d-pads are atrocious.
This one looks nice if only it was wireless I would buy it http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/p3600v2.htm

360 for me without a doubt. The PS controllers were awesome when they first came out, a step in the right direction, but since then they haven't evolved and the 360 controller just fits my hands much better ergonomically.

I still vote the PS2 controller. The 360 one is fantastic, no doubt about that, but you *have* to use the d-pad fix to get anything decent out of it .. whereas the PS2 controller is just perfect out-of-the-box.

I'd second the Dualshock 2 on the PS2. Although the DS3 is lighter, wireless and just as sturdy it has the unfortunate side effect of mushy L2/R2 shoulder buttons. It's not the end of the world, but I do prefer the DS2 for that reason.

360 is the most comfortable but it's also the worst built , bumpers are bad , analogue's frequently start to lean after a couple of months and triggers become slightly less responsive . DPAD is a fucking joke
Normally I end up opening them after a month or two to tighten the triggers ,filing the outer ring of the dpad sector, give everything a clean and end up taking out the rumble motors; they weigh next to nothing with them in and I hate rumble
I loved the original xbox s pads , even liked the white / black button locations . And that thing was a tank , I could hurl it at a small unsuspecting child, It would kill it and still work fine

I agree, I also do what you have described to mine. And also think the original S units were more sturdy and a great leap forward on console pad design. That said the new 360 unit is more refined ergonomically, but not as long lasting for sure.

Stop with the keyboard and mouse nut swinging.. whats the question about? Stay on topic and besides..try playing a sports game or a racing game with a keyboard and mouse. Sure a key and mouse is superior any day when we talk fps on the pc but thats not what the topic is about, charlie
Back to the topic..i'd have to say the 360's gamepad is the best gamepad to date, hands down and the fact that it can be used on the pc out of the box is even a nice supplement

You cut out a round disk out of pringles can top and put it under dpad plastic thing, makes dpad very clicky and responsive.
