I'm quite used to forwarding ports, and it's worked fine every time so far. Not too long ago though, I got a new router, a D-Link DIR-855 is what I believe it's called. I go to it's port-forwarding page, and enter the information I need. After I've saved my options and rebooted the router though, it still doesn't open my ports. So instead I put my computer in the DMZ. How safe is this really?

DMZ is not safe at all, its basically welcoming anyone to probe into ur pc... Its like leaving your car door open with the keys in the ignition in a carpark that is frequently visited by hoody assholes..

My mate has D-Link router as well and has same trouble with ports, I advised him to get a different router but he still uses that crap...
