Hi,

So I got this old Wii that I haven't been using much but decided to through some of the latest games, but it seems my OS is too old and I don't have homebrew channel and loaders and all that crap. As soon as I insert a new game DVD-R the game intro shows in the disc channel but if I start it the screen goes black and the wii freezes.

So basically if I have an old Wii chipped with wiikey and os is v3.1, what EXACTLY should I do? I did my part of reading corresponding sites, readmes, guides etc, but it's all mostly about softmodding a fresh 4.x console.

Once again - I need a precise step-by-step guide. Not because I'm lazy or anything but maybe I'm too stupid to correct guide for my initial situation.

I'll be really greatful if you can show me one (with pics for total noobs, preferably).

Big thx in advance.

I'm not experienced in Wii hacking exactly, but I did plenty of other consoles. Common sense dictates that you need to remove outdated chip and then use up-to-date hacking methods. Sorry I can't be more exact

common sense dictates shit in this case Wink - leave the chip in there, it's all about softmodding now.
look through the new super mario bros thread in the console section and read the tales of woe in there, there are plenty of tips and links to tutorials.

Thanks - but that's exactly why I typed quite a lenghty first post Smile I'm *lost* in links to tips and tutorials, half of them being outdated or referring to softmodding a new console. That's why I asked for one and only link that would help in my situation.

there you go, simple and easy to follow.
oh and btw, google and read up a bit about IOS, cIOS, homebrew channel etc. - makes it much easier to understand the whole softmod thing and avoid mistakes if you know about the basics instead of blindly following a guide. Wink

Awesome! Cheers, man Smile Usually I do read a lot to understand the process (like it's the case with my 360, Iphones and PSP) but it's just too hard of a time at work now closing all the financial stuff, paying vendors etc etc so my brain just refuses to understand anything Smile BUT at the same time I need the Wii working for Christmas drinking parties and hopefully your guide will solve the problem!
