What's better.
Skip sleep altogether or take a 3 hour nap?

if you're tired or it's late... there's no such thing as a three hour nap.
take a 30 minute nap with your legs above your head level and you'll be rested

it's 6 am now. I gotta get up at 9. Either I try to stay awake or sleep for 3 hours.
I can sleep for only three hours. Believe me, my alarm clock always gives me a near heart attack. I'll wake up from that thing

For me, I would say skip it. I find it much worse to go to sleep and then abruptly wake up than not sleep at all.

I would take 3 hours of sleep you will fill better for it in the afternoon, unless you want to be the walking dead in the afternoon.

Sleeping 3 hours and then forcing yourself to wake up will most likely ruin the entire day. The hormones released into your body will continue to flow through your system for another 3-5 hours after waking up and you will feel like crap. This is obviously different from person to person but for me, I'd stay awake and take it. If I go to sleep when tired and wake up 3 hours later while in deep sleep I'll be ruined for the rest of the day.

I've heard 3 hours is about the limit on short sleep, as it gives you enough time in REM to actually rejuvenate better. Any less than that and you're in that level 2-3-4-2-3-4-2-3-4 sleepy state bouncyness that you don't actually rest in....sleep!

it all depends on how fatigued you are. Cant keep your eyes open ? Then imagine that the whole day, so go to sleep. Feel awake and like no problem, stay awake and push through with coffee, red bullö, cocaine.. whatever ^^
