Not sure if anyone runs XBMC and im sure loads of people have done this. But a modded xbox works great as a networked media storage solution.
Ive put a large hard drive in my old modded xbox with all my media on running xbmc. Now i know it wont play HD but it streams HD perfectly to the raspberry PI via UPNP server. Obviously the PI is doing the decoding.
Anyhow hope it helps somebody, very cheap media center solution.
