yeah i played this on the 360 but would rather play it on pc for better resolutions and also to play it with a decent flight stick rather than a crappy controller.

Anyway, I'd really like to try BoP. Obviously it won't be as simulative as the original IL2, but seems that isn't too far from its glorious PC predecessor in terms of pure gameplay experience. And graphically wise is gorgeous tbh.

Well you are wrong. I don't remember IL2 on PC much, but I'm pretty sure BoP is as simulationy as PC's IL2. It has arcade, realistic and simulation modes.
Arcade is arcade, but realistic is where a major difficulty fuckfest starts. You get stalls from every mistake when turning, your plane can start spinning like crazy and you have to stabilize it. When you fire guns plane starts shaking from recoil, all the aiming assists are off, if a wing gets hit it becomes harder to fly and these are just few examples from REALISTIC mode. I didn't even try Simulation cos I don't have a joystick, but people who did said that it's very very hard and simulationy.
So yeah, just because it's on 360 and not PC doesn't mean it was dumbed down. They just added arcade mode but old IL2 is still there if you want it to be.

Apparently not, only thing they put in sim mode is the ability to stall easier... lulz,,, where are the balistics/round type penetration stuff? do they have individual hit locations for fuel tanks/wing spars and struts etc?
dunno, looks fantastic but im not sure how much "simulation" mode really would be simulation, especially based on consoles with a controller, hopes its great though will get it for my son on his xbox360 for xmas he will be in awe at it...

I tried the demo and it seems they do have fairly accurate hitboxes. If you hit their engines, they will first burst into flames, and if you push it, they will blow right off with the rest of the wing. It's more than enough to set an engine on fire and they will fall down eventually. Also if you take too much hits on your wings, their aerodynamic properties will be seriously hindered.
I also failed a mission because I shot down a stuka and the debris tore my left wing off. So it's fairly realistic in some aspect, but certeanly NOT a simulator, since there are controls that are completely missing from the game, due to the limited controllers.

well as long as the aircraft dont have a habbit of nosing up or down, then as an arcade/console flight shooter it will be fine, otherwise compensating with a controller all the time would be a bitch on the thumbs/fingers over time..

Its not only graphics overhaul it seams they really put some work into campaign mode. Objectives and battles feal a lot less generic like they do in normal Sturmovik.

i tried it... and I own all the IL2 games on the PC.
This has far less than the PC counterpart.
They had no choice but to dumb it down some.
Still good game.
But it is nowhere near close to being a sim as it was on the PC.
And some stuff feels better though in this incarnation... like the campaign and such.

Its total crap as far as a simulation.Tried the 360 demo, any sort of turn results in the plane stalling and becoming inverted which sends you into the ground.Totally stupid.I will stick with the real simulation.IL-2 for PC.The days of console simulators died a long time ago.
