I did a "monitor" search in this section cause I swear there was a topic about it at one point but of course our shitty search doesn't return results.

I only know of a few games that can take advantage of multiple monitors like WIC and X3, curious if theres any other games.

Unfortunately im not a fan of X3 and WIC only works in multiplayer.

Sad so many game developers don't use what's at there disposal, a lot of games could benefit from this.

One of the major ones that I can think of is Supreme Commander / Forged Alliance
For dual monitors you can have the second monitor double as a large minimap, but you can also zoom in on that map as you would be able to on your main monitor and look at things more closely.
I found it to be very useful.

I'll return if any more multimonitor games come to mind.

I think the userbase would be so small that they would not want to put resources in that direction.

Some games designed specificaly for multi monitors would be kickass though.

lmao was this from your 6 hour long COD session you were talking about? lol

None the less, eye infinity rocks but that's not really what I was going for.

I meant more like game on one screen and maybe a map or something on the other.

under 50FPS? really? what is the point of not wanting to use it if you got anything over 50? games are completely playable even at 30FPS.

The 58xx+ cards have the power for it Wink

I can't quite read the FPS figure in the CoD comparison picture but it seems to have a red tint, that said a 5870 Crossfire configuration should handle most any games.
(If you have the money required for 3x quality 24" monitors or similar you probably have a machine capable of handling said 2560x1600 and above resolution in the first place.)

either im misunderstanding you, or you misunderstood me.... i wouldnt want it if i got anything UNDER 50, not over 50.... that might be a bit over the top, maybe 45ish might be a bit more reasonable.

to me, playing games with low fps... i just notice a stuttering... i play a lot of fps games, and in those, the more fps the better - yeah, low fps like around 30 really kill the experience for me. its not a deal breaker, but it does knock the enjoyment down a bit.

if im playing something else then yeah ok a lower fps is ok, but come on... 30 for a fps game? that might be 'playable', but its not in any way comfortable... at that kinda framerate id be dropping graphic to get a decent gaming experience...

Games and real life are completely different i assure you.
Sitting in one spot playing a game like that looking left to right i'm pretty sure you would get a sore neck Sad
Still wouldn't mind trying oit out with some 30" screens Razz
Worth it.

does eyefinity have any sort of fisheye/barrel correction?
polygon rastering wasn't exactly made for extremely wide angles
as it is, the side screens are almost useless when they stretch it like that

Multi-monitor = fail due to the edges of the screens and the different angles of the monitors.

Welcome to a trillion years ago (matrox parhelia?)

Moar marketing fads please. Nice big widescreen monitors on high res aren't douchebaggery enough !

I think it's being licensed out. Alienware has that same one as well

http://gizmodo.com/photogallery/alienwaremonitor2/1000427005

and you can see the seems as if there were 3 fullscreens

Ostendo's is also 1500 cheaper than the NEC

http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/23/ostendo-now-selling-crvd-display-directly-multiple-crvd-display/

ah, seems ostendo owns the monitor and NEC Alienware are rebranding it

http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/23/ostendo-now-selling-crvd-display-directly-multiple-crvd-display/

check that fucking video, they've got like 3 of those fuckers setup Neutral

yeah, that's pretty much the only game I can think of that lets you use a second display. I'd love to see more games support dual-monitor configurations, treating them seperately, not horizontally spanning the image across both screens. I can think of like a million games that could really benefit from it, for example displaying a map / inventory / tactic controls - just almost every "secondary" thing you only need ocassionaly and they normally cram onto your screen or display them as overlay over the actual game, interrupting / obscuring / reducing the view and the gameplay. If they stuck to displaying only those 2D-interface items on the second screen, performance shouldn't be a problem and neither should it be to adapt to different screen-resolutions.
a problem they would need to address though is how to handle mouse-input on the second screen without interfering with the gameplay. in some cases you would probably need another secondary input device - maybe coupling the idea with touchpanel-support as input and output at the same time. nintendo already (somewhat) did it in zelda: four swords with the support for the gba-link.
anyway, thinking about it I might do some research and read a bit more about the whole topic. I'll let you know if I discover something useful.

Huh? I always thought X3 (and TC) just does the standard stretch of one screen over multiple monitors? It'd be kickass if it would support the info screens on smaller monitors and the main view on the main monitor - I'd so get a cheap small LCD just for that.
