Warner Bros. and developer TT Games today announced Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham, due for release this fall.
The puzzles-and-combat game will be available on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PS Vita, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Windows PC. Like the previous two games in the Lego Batman series, it will star the caped crusader and Robin, although players will also be able to take control of various DC Comics characters from the League of Justice and the Legion of Doom.
In Lego Batman 3, the super-heroes take to outer space to stop the evil Brainiac from destroying Earth.
"There's a lot more variety than we've previously had with the Lego Batman games," said game director Arthur Parsons in a full interview with Polygon. "We are doing space combat, races, virtual reality missions, platforming, RPG elements. Characters are always going to be changing and upgrading. It just keeps kids engaged."
This time players can take on the roles of 150 DC characters including good guys (the Justice League) and bad guys (the Legion of Doom). A selection wheel allows the player to choose from a variety of suits, widening the potential for problem-solving and allowing people to play the game their way, instead of searching around for suit signals in the game-world.
"Lego Batman 1 was all about Batman and Robin," explained game director Arthur Parsons at a recent preview event. "You had villain missions, but it was all about Batman and Robin. Lego Batman 2 was all about effectively bringing the Justice League into the story. Now, Lego Batman 3 is having the Justice League from the start, bringing the Legion of Doom in, and then going into a whole branch of the DC universe we've not been to before, with the Lantern worlds."
Fuk yes, i love lego games. I would say indy 2 and lego movie the game are weakest ones, latter mostly because of its length, it is very short compared to some of the latest lego games, and the background music(that same song repeating over and over)
The pre-order bonuses for Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham are varied, but include minifig keychains, small building sets, and even a digital comic book featuring the bricky versions of DC’s greatest heroes. Here’s what you can get and where to get it:
Amazon – LEGO Batgirl Keychain
Best Buy – LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Digital Comic Book by Comixology
GameStop (Disclaimer: GameStop is Game Informer’s parent company) – LEGO Plastic Man Minifigure
Target – LEGO Batwing Miniset
Toys “R” Us – LEGO The Joker Keychain
Walmart – LEGO Tumbler Miniset
Dear god. When will I find to play all this. Have been playing LEGO Marvel for month now, and recently started LEGO Movie and The LOTR. Still need to play Batman 1+2, the Indiana Jones, finish Star Wars some day, then onto Hobbit, Harry Potter ....
I have to say that the Marvel game has been my and my kids favorite so far. The city hub is pretty awesome.
