Tuesdays are generally considered the slowest day of the week for businesses. Likely it is to make things easier when blockbuster games come out on the retailers. I'm sure there are other reasons, relating to it being the slowest business day, as well.

Because if they come out mondays they have to be shipped to the store friday, and then be on storage through the weekend and that increases the risk of the game being leaked or sold early by store employees.
If they come out tuesday they can be shipped on monday.
I think anyway.

proper game stores get games 2 weeks before release.. i wont even go into the fact of preorders being shipped 5~ days before release to arrive on release day,
noone ships within 1 day, process is far too long, and there are always delays
(yes i have work experience in that area)

I'm just basing my conclusions on that fact that when games were being released on mondays, a lot of them got leaked during the weekend. Maybe just bigger stores get them weeks earlier.

iirc its based on the Games Charts and what day of the week indicates the starting day.
Here in the UK Games Charts are released on a Thursday hence the Friday release for new titles.
So possibly its the same for the US?
