So....game starts up fine but when getting to the title menu it sometimes loads but after like 2 seconds it locks up with everyting jerking back and forth in a loop but the music plays through fine.
thought it was a multi-thread issue so I set it to run 1 core before starting the game.
that made it worse, never even made it to the title menu
change it back and still the same issue.
X2 4400+ 2.8ghz, 4gb memory, ati 5850 latest drivers I think...if ATI's stupid fucking control panel would load for once in it's god damn life.

It works here (Quite well too.) though it might be a 5000 series bug if it happens to other users with similar hardware. (I use a 4890 card with the Catalyst 9.11 hotfix drivers.)
Doubt it's the crack either, it contains a lot of files but my guess is that's because the game EXE reads all that data from one of those larger packed files in the root folder and it's protected somehow so it needed to be unpacked first and rather than release it repacked all individual files were used instead.
X2 should contain all the CPU functions required, not the memory and the game has no issues with Windows 7 as far as I know. (If that's what you use.)
Seems it could be the drivers for you if the CCC acts up, what drivers do you use? 9.11 or hotfix or one of the 9.12 beta/5000 series beta ones?

Also the settings are stored in the "C:\Users\YourUserNameWouldBeHere\Documents\My Games\The Saboteur™\SaveGames" in a easy to alter INI file along with your savegame, bit funny with that "TM" sign but as long as the OS can handle such special characters it should work fine.

Alt-Tab'ing helps, I've managed to finish the first mission without any freezes, they only occur when I want to enter the main menu.

Perhaps try "Dxwnd" to run the game windowed incase that helps, shouldn't really work though as it's not part of the actual game play.
(It's just a normal 2D main menu after all, nothing special in it.)

It happens outside the menu too. Alt-tabbing clears it for a second, enough to get from the menu and into the game, but then it freezes again. The game carries on but the visuals freeze. Alt-tab lets you play for another 2-3s at most, then freeze again.
FUCK.

Guys, try running with D3DOverrider (comes with Riva Tuner) in the background, with both VSync and Triple Buffering enabled. Not sure if it will help, but that's what I have. Perhaps it does some miracle?

Tried changing the refresh rate from 59Hz to 60Hz (in the launcher, in options)? I know this has troubled people in the past in various games...

I only get 60 or 75hz in the launcher options, and that hotfix fucked something up, my intro to the sab. is all glitched and shit now.

For those having problems, with ATI card.
Report it to ATI, theres a proper page on ati website for reporting bugs or use their forum.
They need to know .

Same freezing problem. Alt-tabbing fixed it the first time it happened after that it froze again a few minutes later and wasn't solved by alt tab. core i7 / radeon 5870 / win 7 x64.

We aren't sure what causes all those problems, I've read some comments and people with nvidia cards are also complaining about freezes and crashes, all those freezes might be caused by a bad crack.

well the game freezes here if you use the pause menu when you are playing, after 5 sec it freezes but music keeps playing.
everything else on this game works 100%.
the solution is not to use the pause menu when you are playing lol.
if someone find a fix.. please tell us

Well, considering there is a lot of stuff to do on the pause menu, inc. map and save/load, that's a big problem lol (menu works here).

I'd say you are CPU limited but not to the extent where you should get such a performance hit in this game, there's a lot of AI chacters around but not to the extent it would require massive CPU power.
(A decent dual core like what you have should be enough for most situations especially if it's just this game that does it.)

Anybody got a list of supported graphic chipsets at hand?
Although I think a game should actually tell me my graphic card is not supported but whatever.
