Has anyone had problems with youtube HD videos lately? For some of them, the HD button doesn't work. I keep clicking on it with no avail. Tried 2 different browsers and they both act the same way with this...

Perhaps you have a problem with the new 720p/1080p button? Do you see an arrow next to the button? Try pressing CTRL+F5.

Try adding &fmt=21 or &fmt=18 to your video link.

Or create a youtube account and select that it should automatically try to chose the best quality.

Oh, didn't know about Show Video Info thingie

Did some test with a video from thenormal02's video / /

- Double clicking "HD" button works indeed

Sizes are measured from the beginning of the videos, after starting playback and pulling playhead all the way to the left. Changing mode during playback, reset size to the remaining fragment

1) 640x360, 687 kbps, 20461 KB | Without HD, small player view ala video info box is to the right from the video
2) 854x480, 1201 kbps, 35743 KB | Without HD, big player view ala video info box is bellow and to the right from the video
3) 1280x720, 687 kbps, 57616 KB | HD after double clicking the "HD" button

Resolution at \2 works only after page reload and if player is already in big mode. Loading video in small player view and switching to big player view just upscales the video. Vice versa for going from big to small player view only this time video downscales.

Forcing HD mode by double-clicking always reload the video and switches to the big player view.

Adding

&fmt=18 - forces video into 480x270, - kbps, 16242 KB | Yep, unknown kbps
&fmt=21 - forces video in \1

Both &fmt 's force player into big mode, and HD button is missing in both cases.

Forcing HD playback via account settings don't do a thing for this video.

You mean fmt=22

fmt=22 is 720p
fmt=37 is 1080p

I am uploading a 1080p clip now for you you to test. Should be uploaded in a few minutes and process it a bit later in 1080p.

Leo, can't test your video

This video contains content from Studio Canal, who has decided to block it in your country.

Tried a bunch of web proxies, still no go...

Back to thenormal02's video. Adding &fmt=22 works great and forces video into
3) 1280x720, 687 kbps, 57616 KB | HD after double clicking the "HD" button

Same as double clicking "HD" button.

Adding &fmt=37 forces video into
1) 640x360, 687 kbps, 20461 KB | Without HD, small player view ala video info box is to the right from the video

1280x720, 687 kbps seems to be pretty low, I'm sure it's not the right value

Well, I get such kbps value in Safari and Firefox. Tried both browsers at Mac and PC.

Also, tried to see video information of videos that switch to HD with a single click on "HD" button and discovered that such videos don't have Extended context menu options(Copy embed html, Show Video Info and Copy Debug Info), only available options are Settings and About Adobe Flash Player 10

Updating Flash to the latest version(10.0.42.34) didn't help.
