The definitive spiritual successor to the cult hit S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series.

Areal is a new video game that's being developed by the people behind S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Metro: Last Night. It features a massive and intricately detailed open world environment that is extremely varied and colorful, even though it's set in a post-apocalyptic setting. Areal depicts a future where civilization has fallen apart due to an unearthly material called Metamorphite, which eventually spreads, corrupts and infects the whole world. The source of Metamorphite comes from a meteor that impacted the earth long ago, and it is the site of constant conflict and bloodshed.

I'm not gonna clutter the entire thread with the Kickstarter draft, so here you guys go: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1577656602/175081935?token=a57d4a63

Apparently their campaign is gonna start on the 26th of June.

30.000$ only? Not much so with the right marketing and such they could easily reach that but I'm not to sure that would be enough of a budget for a game like this unless they have other means for funding already covered, stretch goals look interesting as well.
(I'd probably go for 500.000 to a million as a start and then stretch goals afterwards but I don't know, maybe they don't need much to pull it off.)

EDIT: XBO, PS4, PC (Windows, Linux and Mac.) and WiiU, yeah 30.000$ won't be enough for that kind of work but it is just a draft at the moment.

They don't have any clear vision of what they want to do. Some inconsistent concept art with artifacts from Stalker and a wolf from... Avatar?

Also the team has minor people from the GSC team. I mean I could be a janitor @ Monolith and launch a Kickstarter campaign as an ex team member Smile

And third point - the writer is VERY bad. No one even knows if he really writes those books or it's a marketing stunt/hoax. The publishers found a supposedly ex-Spetsnaz looking hulk and told everyone he writes uber cool sci-fi. Although it's such crap that he may have really written it Smile

"500,000 -- A full fledged multiplayer free roam mode will be added. It can accommodate up to 32 players."

Add optional co-op to your video game from the start you MOTHERFUCKERS not as an afterthought. Annoys the crap out of me to see this bullshit approach to multiplayer. These more open world type games need to be set up for multiplayer from their core in my opinion.

Fuck off with all the obligatory built in co-op and maultiplayer already.
Want that shit? Then go play survivarium.
Either do one (co-op and multiplayhurr focused) or the other (singleplayer).

I'm not the one who added multiplayer stretchgoals to the Kickstarter, they did. They're the ones with no clue what's best for their own game apparently. Multiplayer needs to be integrated from the start in order to work best in my opinion.

It's a kind request. A personal wish. Joke aside, how in the fucks name do you get presented finally with a proper Stalker sequel and then say multiplayer should be the focus?

I'm guessing you have no idea what Stalker is going by the way you put it. It took eons to finally get the first game after it was announced back in 2002, then eons more passed since it came out until today. Fuck multiplayer and Stalker in the same sentence. Proper singleplayer, hardcore, all the elements from the trilogy, great weapon balistics, hard fights, dangerous enviroments, all that stuff in single player is whats needed

Did you even read their Kickstarter page? I guess you didn't. The developers themselves added the multiplayer goals, one for co-op and one for competitive multiplayer. Get your shit in check.

I guess not everyone was bestowed with the gift of reading. Laughing

Anyway, this could be really good, especially the free-roam multiplayer if it is what I think it is, basically an "apocalypse" world where players have to survive in a hostile environment, or be pitted against each other as they try to get loot. Basically like the idea of DayZ but on a not so shit engine (hopefully).

Not a fan of the colorful vibrant setting. Also it's odd how much STALKER content they're using in their pitch video, they must have nothing at all to show other than concept art.

The fuck off was aimed at such devs and not at you BTW. Should have made it clearer in my post. Smile

They hope everyone will be stupid enough to believe in Stalker 2 (see my post above) and it will play out like Star Citizen and people will give them 1 million instead of 30k.

It's a new 'psychological' trend now, there's was even some article about it: people @ KS are scared of big numbers these days unless you're AAA so ask less and they'll give more

I really want to get excited about this, every time I read STALKER I go in awe...but at the same time I'm not convinced yet. The goals are kinda silly, the fact that it's supposedly based on a 'colorful' universe doesn't excite me, the focus on consoles (including the Wii U)..eh I don't know. We'll see I guess.

Multiplayer should have been like the 1 million stretch goal because I don't care for it and would rather have more SP content.

Also 30k to ensure it gets funded and they get the extra cash as opposed to 100k and not get funded because they only raised 90k.

And what, may I ask, are they gonna do with 30k on such a project? It's barely enough to get concept art done.
