That sounds very familiar to me. ALthough in my case it weren't video games alone.
Plus, I didn't fuck up the exams. I wasn't even allowed to take them *facepalm*
Well, two of my three classes I can take again next semester already so that should make up for my messing around this semester.
But that leaves me with almost two months of time. Meaning: Learning, making some moneyz and finally getting my drivers license. About time I get that out of the way :/

My dad wasn't especially disappointed. He just thought it was a good idea to verbally rip my head off. As if I needed him to tell me why I failed. Thank you very much, dad, I know exactly why I failed. Because I didn't do jack shit.
Well, whatever. By now he's calmed down and I get to life with the fact that I wasted another 6 months of my life.
Damn, if I added up the time I did nothing or just fucked stuff up because I was too lazy... by now that's quite some time I racked up.
Fuck, gotta get my life straightened out. Sad

ah, i know that just too well...spent the last 5 years @ uni now going from straight A's overachiever to enfant terrible type underachiever Laughing

thank you videogames, thank you ADHD, thank you women, thank you alcohol, thank you lack of self-discipline, thank you drugs! it's been a wonderful time!

serious question: are you just a whiny little unmotivated bitch or did you really find out that you're not interested in the subject anymore? cause if it's the latter, i'd suggest thinking about a career path change. yeah, all that time and money will be completely wasted, but if you already hate studying it, working there will be hell on earth. this is not about giving up and disappointing your parents, but rather thinking about your own personal happiness. and as long as your parents aren't utter shitheads focused on some piece of paper (like mine), they'll understand.

Throw your Xbox out of the window Cool Face

Or you could buy an illegal stash of Adderall (amphetamines for ADHDudes) to improve your concentration. Using dope to pass tests seems to be all the rage these days.

nice idea (that actually works wonders), but i'd rather keep my ADHD and use it in productive ways (ADHD = shitloads of creativity once you learn to "use" it) instead of developing a drug dependency

I think about dropping out every time I hit major obstacle in my studies... And that's like every day Laughing

I'm even considering getting only Bachelor degree in Physics and Geophysics and then go to graphic design, but I need to ask whether I would need to pay, plus they have begun to implement this new way of finishing high school, where you need to write some test which will replace preliminary test for unis, and that negates old way of ending the high school, where you had big tests (in writing and oral exam) in 3 classes (Cro, Math or English and a class of your choice) and you needed to pass that to finish high school...

funny thing - that's EXACTLY what i'm working towards right now (just molecular biology instead of physics). science illustration/visualization isn't exactly a bad niche to get into right now from what i've seen.

about the high school graduation...yeah, same thing here in austria. a high school graduation certificate isn't even worth the paper it's written on anymore.

Not giving a shit is very dangerous, I lost a year without any reason Sad. You just have to buckle up and say fuck it, even if it's crap you need that goddam piece of paper. I know alot of people who dropped out due to one single course, yes ONE. I took the same fucking course three years in a row, was driving me crazy. The problem is there's no substitution, no alternative, you have to finish that shit. The system sux0rz.
I'd love to end school after my bachelor this year, but a bachelor alone is pretty much useless here Crying or Very sad . 1-2 years master, weeeee. Here I come, fun times.

i'm not whining , i'm usually cracking jokes about everyting , as i will with this if it happens but on the other hand i'm gonna hide my tail between my feet in front of my folks for like .. forever .
career change ? i don't even know what the fuck i want , really , most of the stuff is like hobby or interest , is top gear having a spot open ? i don't think so ..
they'll think that i didnt try , which is partially true , i can't like understand some of the eletronic shit i'm doing , n'or can i learn it word for word , and some teachers are dickheads , take they're course and after a while they say that we should look the rest up from some source material and if you do write from that source material everything there was it still isnt enough and they barely give you a passing grade.
the fact is that it was my choice to come here , one of the top universities in this country , 65 km's away from my home town , with the money i wasted staying here , gas , and other expences i could have remained home and go to some shitty university , i would have payed less .

Glad I got all that studying shit out of the way, including a masters, now I'm in a different situation but with a similar problem.

I should already be inoculating rats with a transformed retrovirus I've engineered, but instead I'm still stuck with these fucking mammalian cells which refuse to integrate above ~17% no matter how I tweak the virion's envelope ligand configuration. I'm a week behind schedule now, but I've been stuck at this point for about 3 weeks. I know how to resolve it but it requires a complete de novo viral synthesis and I can't be arsed! It was so much fun when I was making progress, having to go back and redo previous work is just tiresome.

While this is primarily personal research it's also a corollary of other work I've been contracted to do. So with this lack of progress I'm effectively jeopardizing my future income, since my success will heavily influence the abundance of future work. Not to mention the fact that every day I waste costs me money because I'm hiring lab space privately. Crying or Very sad

Actually writing this post out has made me realise I better get started tomorrow and stop procrastinating. Time to boot up the supersequence assembly unit! Laughing

Uhm, what's the point of going to college if you have no idea what you want to do with your life? Embarassed Wouldn't it be wiser to figure that out first, then go study what you do want, not some generic crap that is no good for anything?

But on the other side, life is short, so smart to start to study something early Wink

In America, kids usually spend the first 2 years in college taking various classes (General Education, its required) until they find something they like, and then make it their major Smile

We had general education classes too, some of them were shared between the faculties, but still, not all of the first 2 years were just general education, there were also software engineering classes. Looks to me like it's a waste of time.

Yea its called the general education requirement. I had to take speech, art history, basic acting theater, gym (lol), several literature and history classes, several psychology and sociology classes. Astronomy, geography (which is the boringest shit ever), geology. I also had to take 2 years of language (french)
