Homepage

Quote:
Set in the shattered subway of a post apocalyptic Moscow, Metro 2033 is a story of intensive underground survival where the fate of mankind rests in your hands.

In 2013, the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the earth’s surface into a poisonous wasteland. A handful of survivors took refuge in the depths of the Moscow underground, and human civilization entered a new Dark Age.

The year is 2033. An entire generation has been born and raised underground, and their besieged Metro Station-Cities struggle for survival, with each other, and the mutant horrors that await outside.[/color]

You are Artyom, born in the last days before the fire, but raised Underground. Having never ventured beyond your Metro Station-City limits, one fateful event sparks a desperate mission to the heart of the Metro system, to warn the remnants of mankind of a terrible impending threat. Your journey takes you from the forgotten catacombs beneath the subway to the desolate wastelands above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind.

Looks like they have Wink

Quote:
From 360 Gamer UK:

+ Truly terrifying
+ Remarkable storytelling
+ Fantastic firefights
- Linear and scripted
- Some wonky combat
- Not for the easily depressed

Blending the linear spectacle of Modern Warfare, the nightmare ambience of Bioshock, the resourced-stripped terror of Resident Evil and the verisimilitude of Russian dystopias, 4A Games has produced a truly unique title that stands completely apart from American, British or Japanese gaming sensibilities. A heavily scripted narrative-driven, set-piece-laden epic, Metro 2033 is a remarkable piece of interactive storytelling. But it’s greatest success is in redefining survival-horror, in the process positioning itself as one of the greatest examples of the genre.

Score: 8/10

Wow, sounds greeaaat!.

The + totally outweighs the -.

I don´t care if it´s scripted as long as it´s done well.

Especially when they decided to go scripted and linear as it's the best way to tell the story and keep you on the edge of your seat... Laughing can't be a negative if they decided upon it Surprised

I read the book or to be exact I listened to it. cant say it is amazing like most people say but the twist in the end was deffenatly good, all and all I would give this book a 7.5 although I must say that the author managed to create a great atmosphere. I hope the game will have as good of an atmospher as I pictured it. Smile

From GamePro review:

Quote:
Campaign is 7hrs
Gripping atmosphere
Monsters are easy at the beginning
Not that many firefights at the beginning
Game is very linear
Simple tasks
Sneaking is an option at some points
Cover is important
AI is so-so, but they hit very well
Turret sections freshen the game up
Buy weapons with bullets, some ammunition is worth more
The outside levels are beautiful, but somewhat monotone
Gasmasks can be destroyed, which is fatal outside
Game's key feature is atmosphere, with lighting and sound design et cetera
Very good graphics, especially in the lights and particles department
Play it with a sound system beyond stereo, worth it
German localization sucks ass, the russian accent is awful
Story is awesome
Scenario is really fresh

Bottomline: Thumbs up

Can't wait. Very Happy

Short? Compared to CoD2 or BF: BC 2 is quite long.

COD6 is 6-7 hours on veteran. I don't know why i have to keep on saying this.

I'm not sure what your point is. The story, no matter what difficutly you play is still the same story and still the same length. Now, you might take longer to do it due to being a little more careful or having to redo parts due to death but thats not counted, or shouldn't be as its completely subjective. If I were particularly good at COD then no, it wouldn't take 6-7 hours, it would take the normal 4-5 hours.

I suspect if you shoved Metro onto high difficutly it'll make the gaming experience longer but it doesn't make the campaign longer.

And thats generally why game length is judged on normal difficulty. Anyone can do it and it creates a more or less universal timeframe. Harder difficulties are just too subjective. (Look at Bayonetta. did people moan you can do it on hard in under 4 hours. No, because not many people can.).

Who said anything about the length of the story? Now you're just being silly. It' all about how much time you'll spend playing the game.

He said that the campaign at 7 hours would would be considerably longer that COD and BC2. By campaign, I assume that he means the length of time that it takes you to play through the game from begining to end.

I'd like to see you play through MW2 in 4-5 hours on veteran first time through. You can't do it. 6-7 hours on your first time if you're good at COD games which I happen to be BTW.

I had this same conversation with that fool spiderman a few weeks back in which he claimed that it could be done in 4 hours and to prove his point he linked to a video walkthrough on veteran that is 4 and a half hours long. Now of course, that was a stupid thing to do because you could clearly see that the person playing the game knew exactly where every enemy and objective was and had obviously done it multiple times previously..and also that all of the deaths had been edited out. He certainly wouldn't be able to do it in anywhere near that time on his first play through.

And BTW, MW2 is ridiculously easy on normal just like all of the other COD games. You have to crank up the difficulty to get any sort of challenge from them not just to extend the play time.
