I was using DVI>HDMI and using extension cables from my XFi sound card > RCA.
I'm now using HDMI cable from my 5850 straight to my 46" HDTV to supply audio/video to make watching movies on my PC more relaxing.
The only problem using only HDMI creates a feedback loop caused by the microphone, even when it is muted. The only solution I've found is actually disabling the microphone under recording devices.
I'm curious if this is a bug or driver issue, and if there is another solution where I don't have to disable the microphone everytime I decide to watch movies on my HDTV.
You'll want to mute the playback volume, no way it can cause feedback that way. I'm showing it for speakers here, but you might need to do it on the HDMI device.
The only way to stop the feedback is to disable the Speakers in Sound Playback properties -
I just don't understand how using HDMI off of my video card could cause audio feedback on my Creative X-Fi sound card. I think I may just go back to the way I had it and use the audio jack to rca converters so the sound always flows through both instead of having to play with the sound properties in Windows :@
