4.0 includes task manager instead of quick ipod.
so you click system button twice quickly and a task manager will pop up
up to 8 apps
4 constant methinks
not sure all will be revealed in june
also 4.0 multitask only works on 3gs and 4g
you need to jailbreak 3g to enable multitask

Be fair my friend, it is still not true multi-task for most applications.
The Apple way of multi-tasking is to completely "freeze" the previous application in its state when you left it. Then you run the "task manager" and are able to resume the previously frozen state of the application you left earlier.
True, however, that a few tasks will get true multitasking via background process that Apple previously swore against, Pandora, Skype, etc.

FYI, the iPad is awesome and you all smell! Its a lot less frustrating to use at home now I have an actual keyboard for it. Still, as a portable device its pretty awesome, things like multitasking isnt a deal breaker if you're using the device for what it was designed for, as a simple bit of portable computing kit. If you want a laptop then buy one, this is not meant to serve that function.

I second that. Fully controlling my PC thru team viewer from the comfort of my sofa, reading comics or quickly looking smthg up on the nets never been so easy and comfortable. And that's a gadget geek talking, who went thru a dozen WM devices (including HD2), all androids including Motorola Droid and HTC Desire, chinese MIDs like SmartQ, multi-touch tablet PCs etc etc.
p.s. and I love casual gaming on it. Charadium HD ftw.

why would i need true multi-task? It hasn't been an issue with the current 3g I own.
Make calls, use web when on phone, txt, go on msn, put on music, and other things. Like... why would i want to run other apps in the background. Just so i can be like android phones?

yeah.
i listen to music when texting browsing web and some apps if not most nowadays support ipod music for background.
like what kind of multitasking do people want? do you really need to switch between apps at short notice to do something? i can view google maps while on phone and give directions. i havent seen a problem with the iphone doing shit.pages load in background.
only prob is txting while gaming.
cause then you have to leave the app.
but most games have autosave implemented.
pick up and play games like tilt to live or tetris or collapse and the like dont need to

...and for those which don't autosave, there's always backgrounder+proswitcher. works like a charm.

Despite everyone yelling that it's a useless toy I use it evey day as a productivity tool (with Documents to Go and other stuff installed, of course) every day and I even don't take my win7 netbook with me anymore. And I've never thought I'd read books on anything other than E-ink but Stanza for Ipad is sooooooooo cool so my dear sony reader 505 slowly gets covered with dust.

I'm using mine to read comics, browse the web, sit on IM and watch videos (from time to time). Mostly just the reading comics and browsing the web while away from my pc. I'm using it now in fact! Although I did leave the keyboard upstairs so this is a tad annoying to type.

either 360 slim with kinect or ipad
im sort of thinking of waiting for ipad 2g
iphone 4g has new screen tech and such
it could happen for the ipad
might be worth the wait

it's on the go media everything. i don't think people really care about the aspect ratio when they view it or use it. Seriously, bro. Cool story and all, but I don't see a flaw in it. It's on the go. Watch a movie on the TTC, VIA, or even on the PLANE. It's slick, it's thin, it's awesome. I lug my laptop to work just to watch an episode or two of a show that I downloaded the night before. If I can do that with the iPAD and a dock. Sit back, watch a show with decent sound and not care a fuck. Then I'll be satisfied.

but if the image isn't affected and the aspect ratio is meant to match the small screen then it isn't bad. It all matters how bad the image is ruined. If it's huge and noticeable then yes, I agree completely. But i have yet seen an ipad in action in person so I'm hoping that aspect they chose is only meant to fit a 16:9 video on a small screen without really removing much. Like watching 16:9 on a small laptop is shit. You have huge bars on top and bottom and the video screen is just tiny. it's true 16:9 but it really sucks. If you go fullscreen 4:3 then hell it sucks even more. But at least you have full screen.
I really have to see how it works in person. Maybe it's not a huge difference. Maybe there's no difference at all and it's just made to match the small 10inch screen. I'm trying to find shit on google right now, but i'm running on company time so i can't. I already spent more time watching e3 than editing.
